Thanks, rabbit--I usually find that the key to tucking is having enough room and length, and second how I do it!

Gigi--yes, "within range" is a good description--but I like it as you do!

shevia, every day I realize you never know until you try--the tiniest detail can make or wreck an outfit. Kind of frustrating when I'm trying to get ready in the morning and suddenly I realize that one of those tiny details is getting in the way of a good outfit! Or then there are the huge details--honestly, for a whole year I thought I couldn't wear these because I thought I had thick ankles and legs that couldn't stand the shortening! Crazy! I don't do anything super special to take an outfit down a notch but I will enjoy talking about it.

Fantastic! Isn't it interesting how flattering a theoretically leg cutting ankle strap can be? I love your dress up to dress down concept - hope you will post more.

The Okalas look so awesome and are not leg-shortening at all! I love it!

I have a poison eye for Birks also, so I will just say that the skirt plus Birkies is "acceptable." (That is high praise from me, ha!)

I like the side tuck! I will have to try it myself.

I did buy the Okalas, as you may have seen from my Ask Angie thread. They are marvelously comfortable! I have a similar skin tone to yours—a little cooler than the color of the Okalas, but within range. Thanks for plugging the Okalas again, to put them on my mind so I could try them out!

I think both the first and third outfits look great on you! I'm not sure about tucking, I usually try a couple of options myself and go with what feels best, but they look good to me.

Thanks, quietgirl!

Suz, no need to run and hide--part of the fun of wearing Birkenstocks is knowing they're not, um, conventionally, um, flattering! Thanks for the thoughts on the ankle strap--I'm having trouble believing it's okay!

Oh my goodness, you are a bombshell! The black Okalas are perfect with this and do not cut you off at all. Superb! I also love your casual rendition, or I love it as much as I can love any outfit with Birks, given my poison eye. (runs and ducks).

When I posted my shoe comparison last week, a couple of you suggested the black Okalas would work better. Voila! (The first two skirts are identical except for the stripes.) What do you think? Does the black strap cut me off too much? Also, is the side tuck worth repeating?

I had to wear black and white for choir, but I knew I didn't want to trudge around Farmer's Market in pumps and polyester, so I tucked my Birks and a tee into my tote. I'm not sure the skirt would be my first choice for a casual afternoon, but the outfit was comfy!

There are so many articles on how to take an outfit from day into evening, but Rachy and I have been saying that we need the opposite--how to take dressed-up to casual! So we're going to be posting our ideas on this occasionally. (Right, Rachy?)
