I also like the look of nude shoes with skirts/dresses and bare legs. I'm 5'6'', but have short legs, and find that nude shoes help a lot to elongate my legs, especially if the colors is as close as possible matched to my skin so my shoes 'disappear'. I have these http://www.shopdolcevita.com/detail.aspx?ID=220
in a very light pinky-beige shade and they do wonders for my legs.

I would not wear them with outfits that lack color, say black&white ( I would wear red with that), but for anything with come color interest or whenever i don't know which shoes will go with an 'busy' outfit these are my go to!

Btw, my hobby is ballroom dancing and all the shoes there are made from flesh tone satin, exactly for the purpose of matching your skin ( well fake-tanned skin and creating a leg line as long as possible.

I agree with Kasmira *and* with Angie!

I am very short with short legs, and I do find that nude heels elongate my appearance, whether worn with skirts and dresses and bare legs, OR with full-length khakis or camel dress slacks.

I also recently purchased a pair of Theory nude patent flat sandals, which I think will be quite versatile for a trip we're planning this summer because they'll go with everything so I don't have to pack a zillion shoes.

Popping is good ... but if you're already wearing bright clothing, nude shoes tone things down and balance things out.

In Kasmira's outfit today, I think adding bright pumps would have been too much with that dress. I think she does it right, keeping the pop of color to the purse only. The nude pumps coordinate nicely with the khaki blazer, adding balance.

However if your closet is full of understated neutrals, then yes, absolutely, shoes are the place to add interest and play with this season's brights!

I have to disagree. I own 3 pairs of nude heels and wear them all summer long. The lack of a "pop" makes it look like you aren't wearing shoes at all, and are instead just impossibly tall. :)

I'm doing a neutral shoe theme on my blog this week.

Love the sound of red sandals Becky! Red is a basic and will not date.

Hmmmm. I don't agree if bare legs are part of the mix. The look won't pop. Metallic is a little different though because there is a sparkly interest. If you’re wearing jeans, it’s different, because you are creating a visually interesting contrast.

I have read/heard several places that wearing a shoe color close to one's flesh tone (when legs are bare) creates an elongating look that makes one appear taller and slimmer, and legs longer and slimmer. Do you agree? It seems kind of...boring, but with my limited clothing budget, neutral colored shoes are the most versatile. More's the pity, as I've seen some great shoes for spring in fun, bright colors!
