You can gradually add other colors to your shoe wardrobe as you branch out from the browns and blacks that went with the pants you were wearing most. Boots are a pretty big purchase, and I think you're right to look forward with them--to the wardrobe you're transitioning to--rather than to the past, and the clothes you are moving away from. Dark brown is a great color if you wear mostly a darker color palette. Go for a deep wine red if you want it to be more understated. </p> <p>Otherwise, I think cognac is a great and really versatile color for shoes. My really exciting routine has been black shoes with black pants, and brown shoes with brown pants. </p> <p>I wear a lot of jeans now, because the dress code changed at work. With the help of Loreal, my hair is dark blond/light brown. I don't anticipate that changing any time soon. I am thinking that the only time I should wear black shoes is when I have a black top or jacket on, which is not very often. Is that right?</p> <p>I'm hoping to buy a pair of boots soon, and am looking for light brown, to bookend my hair. Until I have more variety in my shoe wardrobe, will that be the best choice for boots? </p>
