That's one of the reasons I gave up on button-downs a long time ago, sigh. No soultions, just sympathy....

I experience this a lot, especially on sheer tops. The weight of the collar in comparison to the rest of the fabric makes sense, though. It happens to me more when I have more buttons undone to show more of the underlayer than when I have them buttoned up higher.

Very interesting... some of my shirts slide back and some slide forward. I need to find out if there's any rhyme or reason to that.

it is the weight of the collar ..I mean being most shirts have a collar --- I experience it on some jackets that seem out of balance with a heavy collar, but I cannot explain that better.

No clue as to why. This happens to me too, I just figure it is because I have a small bust.

I'm with elpgal; I'm always tugging the back to keep from showing too much cleavage. I have scoliosis. . . I wonder if that's why?

I have the opposite problem; I have to tug them down the back. I think it has to do with my upper spine curvature. The shirts don't lie flat and glide down along my back; they bunch up near my nect and deltoids. I have the same problem with moto jackets or anything with a pronounced collar.

Maybe the back is too long, so that when you sit you pull it down. Feel like I need a degree in fashion engineering to figure that one out!

Hmmm. Interesting. I am like Claire - I had the problem constantly with oversized fits, but don't seem to experience it now.

This used to be a chronic problem in for me with the oversized shirts in the 80s. I don't notice it so much now though. Maybe the armholes on my blouses are smaller now?

i get this too. i think in the course of the day with the arm movements and general being out and about, i do a periodic yank in the front especially if i don't tuck or the shirt has a short front tail.

Why do my long sleeved button down shirts always slide down my back? I feel like I am constantly having to tug them down in front, especially if they are under a sweater. They don't seem too small anywhere.

Is it just a product of sweater-shirt friction?
