The difference I think is that tunic tops are more dress like in terms of structure and fit and less roomy like the shirt dress that could easily be worn tucked in as a button down! I suppose since it has been around for a while, a lot of people can feel like moving on by now. But if you still like it, I see no reason why you shouldn't wear it. It is my go-to outfit when I am in a hurry, and allows me to wear (shirt) dresses to work ( we are not allowed to wear skirts, dresses etc).<br /> I haven't noticed it much lately, neither IRL nor on YLF. I have recently done a big spring cleaning of my closet, and noticed that a lot of shirt dresses were worn, so I got rid of a bunch. I still have quite a few left, as I had quite a collection. I will continue to wear the ones I have, but am curious if it is worth getting new ones. I am tempted by newer interpretations - gingham, polka dot chambray etc., but I only see them shown worn on their own as dresses. My shopping budget is currently fairly limited and I am trying to plan wisely for spring . </p>
