I have given up wearing skinnies like regular jeans. But they are the only kind of jeans that work with long or voluminous tops, and the only jeans that can be tucked into boots.

I have small calves and even smaller ankles so I am not concerned with that. But...I do have big thighs (21 or 22 inches I think) and a proportionately big tummy (almost 32"...eek...hope my jump rope comes soon...). I need lots of stretch in the thigh area and waistband.

What's TTS? True to size? I find they run true to size - I took the 26 - and I run between 25/26 in most jeans. I tried on the 25's in the mid-rise, and couldn't get them on at all, though I may go back and try the 25's in these, since the high-rises do have a lot more stretch than the mid-rise.

The 26 do actually feel loose on me, believe it or not, since I know they appear tight. But that's because I've got them firmly anchored at the waist with a belt, and at the ankles with the boots. See the Tuesday pics and you'll notice that they are a lot looser looking all over, in the waist and hips, and are even wrinkling in the back of the thigh.

I definetly would recommend these to someone with curvier hips and bum. I wouldn't size up either. In fact, if I had more of a tush or more in the hips, I wouldn't need a belt because I'd fill them out better and they'd stay on. The pocket placement would probably be more flattering too. However if you read the customer reviews, there is this issue with the front pockets - they have a tendency to poof out. I have not really had that issue but I imagine if my hips were wider it may be more of a nuisance. If you are going to wear tunic-length tops, nobody will ever notice.

The waistband is quite generous - because you know my waist is closer to 28 inches. Yet the 26's are not too tight and in fact need that belt or they are too loose and start slipping down.

Even anchored into place, I can bend, move stretch, eat a huge brunch, heck I could probably do yoga in these. They have that much stretch in them!

The only caveat: while they have quite a bit of stretch all over, so would work quite well if you have wider thighs too, they are tightest at the ankle opening. So if you have proportionately large ankles or calves (and I mean extra large - not just average), these may present a problem.

I actually thought about you when I found these, Maya! Then I read that you had given up on skinnies. I do hope you give these a try. I think you will like them.

Ah so I finally found this thread. Shiny, you look amazing in skinnies. You are one of the few people who can really pull off those skin tight skinny jeans, even without a tunic or boots. I think they look fantastic on you! You always say your hips are skinny but they actually look fairly curvy in these jeans because of how slim-fitting they are.

The lace skirt is gorgeous and the shoes are stunning. That's my favorite outfit (and the teal cardi/NL blouse).

Having said that, I'm less confident that the UO jeans would work for me. Forgive me for repeating myself, but I"m not sure if you read my other post: Are these TTS? Would you recommend someone with curvier hips/bum to size up? Perhaps you can't answer that.

San, I have not tried Hudson. Do they only make flap pockets? I don't like flap pockets because I often wear longer tops and the flap can interfere.

Tanya, of course you can copy the idea! That's what I love about this site. I get great ideas to copy all the time.

Nicole, you mean the teal cardi on Friday? That's a BR cardigan. I have it in three colors - turquoise, teal, and plum.

Angie, I didn't get my haircut! This is just a different way to style my hair, and with this week's temps warming up and getting a tad more humid, flipping it out comes more natural than having it straight. But that's what I love about this haircut - it has many different "moods" and is fun to play with.

On Friday halfway through the day - on a whim - I decided to flip the part to the other side just for the heck of it. It felt really weird on the other side, because I never ever wear it on that side, but after I got used to it, I kinda liked it for a change of pace. I will have to do it again and take a pic to see which side everyone prefers.

Fab jeans, and I’d just like to point out the two things you mentioned to me that you were challenged with: pencil skirts and belts. Well you did it and look fabulous in that ensemble. Well done.

Hey Shiny...Love the new jeans. They do look much better on Wed, than they did in the first photo. It also may have been the way you were standing.

I really like how you wore the cowl w/the tunic. I can't imagine that tunic being an orphan--it's so pretty! I'm glad you found a way to wear it. Will you try different cowls under it now?

I also really like the way you draped the ruffle over your blue cardi. I love that shade of blue too. What brand is that cardi?

Shiny, you look great. I really like your new skinnies, they fit you very well. I love how you wore a cowl neck top under the scoop neck tunic, what a brilliant idea! I might copy it for my cobalt sweater with a deep scoop if you don't mind. You are such an inspiration!

Shiny I am mostly wearing COH jeans. I do have one pair of Hudson Stella skinny jeans that are super comfy but they have the back flap pocket which I don't always want on jeans. I also have liked David Kahn jeans but haven't tried them for a few years. I have a suspicion that they might be for curvy gals. When I was wearing them I liked that the rise was mid rise and most others were too low.
Have you tried Hudson jeans? I think they are good for a skinny butt.
Really I am happy with the new COH Hutton jeans. I haven't had a chance to wear them out of the house yet because they are being washed and ready for hemming. I love that the stitching does not contrast which is so nice for me for something different.

And you are a genius: I love how you've layered the cowlneck top underneath the J. Crew tunic, and I don't think you look wide or heavy or anything like that at all. Oh and I adore the boots!!

I had seen your other outfits before, but I still love that teal cardigan with the NL blouse and the lace skirt outfit is gorgeous too.

San, what other jeans brands do you like? I know you just got the Huttons - aren't those wonderful? They are my ideal - I love, love, love the 9 inch rise. While I can do 8 or 8-1/2, the 9 inch is just perfect. 10 inches is probably one inch too much, though with a belt they aren't bad, comfort wise.... I just wouldn't wear a short or tucked in top with them.

Also the back pockets on the Huttons are placed just right, and are the right size. I wish COH would come out with a Hutton in same exact style and fabric, except with a straight leg and also with a skinny. I'd be in heaven!

Shiny I forgot to mention that I love your cowl neck top with the scoop neck sweater over it too. It looks beautiful and makes it extra fun that the scoop neck sweater was almost a closet orphan.
I am built a lot like you in the shape of the hips and rear. The jeans with the super high waist are a problem for me too. I know it does help that these days jeans have stretch in them to help the fit. I bet you are going to like your mid rise ciarette jeans better.

Thanks!!

San - I think also that wearing the jeans with snugger boots on Wednesday - instead of the scrunchy ones shown on Tuesday - helped to keep the jeans in place too. Which makes me wonder what would happen if I wore them with ballet flats. I worry they may need to be held properly in place both at waist with belt, and at ankles with snug boots. We shall see - I haven't yet hemmed them because I haven't washed them yet. Under the boots I had them cuffed with a giant cuff that was practically the entire length of my boot. :-)

Bella - I've worn them three days this week and not yet washed them, so they are giving about as much as I suspect they will give. They are SUPER stretchy. Don't expect them to suck you in and hold you in in any way, because they won't (unless you size down.... I don't know because I couldn't get the smaller size up over my thighs). It really is like wearing stretchy tights instead of jeans. That's how comfortable they are! It's hard to describe. You have to get used to how they feel, because they are a litlte strange, but since they are so darn comfy you are motivated to get used to them!

I would imagine these would be perfection for anyone taller than me, and/or with a little more curves in the hips/thighs. I think the length is a bit off for my 5'0 frame, which is making them sproing up lengthwise if not held into place at waist and ankles, does that make sense?

One word of caution: you need small ankles and calves for these. They are super tight in this part. The smaller size (25) - was too tight and I could barely get them off my feet (and I wear a size 6!).

But if you are at least 5'4" and you are looking for 10-inch rise skinny jeans around $58 ... it's worth giving them a shot!

I also bought the mid-rise cigarettes but have yet to give them a test run. These are not quite so stretchy. I'm expecting they may be perfect for chopping into clamdiggers.

You created a wonderful outfit with the orphan sweater. I have a navy sweater as well and I also think it is hard to wear because it doesn't always work well with jeans.

My goal was to only make one post with what I wore this week, and put them all into an album with just one single link. However, turns out I only wore one outfit that you hadn't already seen (Wednesday), so I'm afraid this is going to be quite lame and because I didn't bother to take photos of the outfits you've already seen, you're going to get multiple links. If you just want to see the one original outfit, skip down to Wednesday and ignore the rest.

However you might want to also see Tuesday - I bought new skinnies at Urban Outfitters and took a bunch of photos. These skinnies have a 10-inch rise!!!! Read on.....

1) Sunday - I didn't take any photos and don't even remember what I wore. Honestly, I looked like hell anyway.... hung over from the formal event (we were up until 4 AM). We came back from brunch and errands, and promptly crashed for a 4-hour nap. :-)

2) Monday - did not leave the house. DH had the day off and did repairs around the house; I had to work and I had conference calls all day long into the night. :-(

3) Tuesday - Not an original outfit, except for new skinnies from Urban Outfitters!!! I saw these online and was intrigued, so we popped into UO and I bought a pair:

http://tinyurl.com/dz3lar

My REVIEW:
These jeans are super, super stretchy, and very very skinny. The rise goes all the way up to the belly button. They are super-duper comfortable because of the stretch. They feel like I am wearing running tights, except that they are denim. They fit somewhat similar to my favorite INC clamdiggers, and are similar quality (lightweight denim). I am thinking about making them into clams in the summer if I don't find any other ones I like.

Unfortunately, I don't think they are the most flattering jeans, especially in the tush! I wish the pockets were placed higher - I feel like they are way too low and that's unflattering. I took a bunch of pics after wearing them out to dinner - you can see they also kind of stretched out/rode up funny etc:

http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm217.jpg

... and no, I can't size down. I couldn't even get the next size down up over my hips.

HOWEVER, the next day I figured out the secret. They simply needed a belt at the waist to keep them from riding around so much!! See Wednesday's pic - much better. The belt kept the jeans in place the whole day, and made them fit a lot better. I suspect they may also shrink when I wash them.

I think they are keepers, especially for that bloaty time of month when my earnest sewn skinnies seem to dig into the bloatiest part.

4) Wednesday - This was my only original outfit all week!

Navy Jcrew scoop neck tunic, BR camel houndstooth patterned cowl, cream Coach purse, UO skinnies, dangly earrings, and brown wedge boots:

http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm227.jpg

You can see the new skinnies work *much* better with a belt to keep them from riding down. This was taken at the end of the day, after hours of sitting and moving around. The jeans stayed put.

Meanwhile, these boots are not new. I've had them for several years. I always forget about them until late in the season. They are pleather and I'm kind of a snob for leather boots, plus the shape of the wedge is kind of funky and with the square toe I always worry they are out of date. But I remembered them this week, pulled them out, and realized they are perfectly in style and they are actually quite cute (at least I think they are). Not to mention, they are SUPER comfortable!! Despite the heel height, I can trounce all over the city streets in these for hours. I only wish I'd dragged them out of the back of my closet earlier.

This Jcrew tunic was on verge of being a wardrobe orphan, even if it is super soft and cozy. I would probably have been better off in a petite version. The scoop is very low, yet looks totally goofy with a cami underneath. It's very full and I worry it adds 10 lbs to my frame. Also I regret buying it in navy, since navy with dark jeans is just too much navy. But I had the inspiration to pop the cowl neck under it and I love how it turned out. What do you think?

I wore a camel 3/4 length ATL coat with this, another item in my closet that I forgot I love, so I would like to get it into more circulation before the winter ends.

5) Thursday - Thursday's there always seems to be an excuse to dress up a bit. This week we went to an art opening so I had an excuse to wear this lace skirt outfit:

http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....orm176.jpg

.... but with a matching-colored cardigan over it and black suede boots since it was quite cold out. I lost two buttons because the skinny belt executed them right off. Very sad about that, as this is one of my favorite cardigans. Hopefully I can find some new buttons that will work.

6) Friday - teal cardigan, NL blouse - this same outfit but with brown wedge boots and the new UO skinnies:

http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....ylf052.jpg

and with this scarf but my Jcrew cobalt coat instead:
http://s386.photobucket.com/al.....ylf053.jpg

7) Saturday - haven't decided yet.... and we may not leave the house today, at the rate we're going. DH is catching up on sleep!
