But with slippers I have more options, so if I can find one that's environmentally friendly and doesn't require the death of an animal, I'll choose that first. I'm also a vegetarian who doesn't eat factory eggs or dairy, but if I ever had to start eating meat again I would definitely choose hunted game over meat from our factory farm industry! Luckily my father's a hunter, so I'd have an easy source. I do wear silk without guilt, so apparently my conscience draws a line between vertebrates and invertebrates! And I just say that as my personal perspective, not because I think everyone in the world should do as I do. My husband and I don't eat much meat because we prefer a largely fish, grain, and vegetable diet, but, given some of the factory fishing and commercial farming practices, I don't feel I can afford to be too smug about my choices. I know many people who hunt, trap, and raise animals on a commercial basis and find most of these people very conscious of how they treat the animals that are the source of their livelihood.
