It's gap real straight. My old old ones didn't have this problem. It's a nice weight not the new thin denim. It's just so annoying! What's a tried true brand? I think gap/BR quality just going down. Had to return a petite button front shirt because sleeves can almost cover my fingers.

I think I'll try soak in hot water and leave overnight. Then soak in fabric softener. And then wear it int the hot tub!

What Chewy said. I had a very expensive pair of jeans that grew several sizes in a couple of hours every time I washed them. They were some designer brand. I gave up and got rid of them.

I think the only solution is to buy better jeans.

Do not spend money for a tailor to take them in. In my experience it does not work. If it does, the result looks odd. The fabric softener soak is more to release fibers that have been shrunk in the dryer ( like wool sweaters). I've not heard that it will tighten stretched fabric.

Nope, no solution that I have found. I don't think there is a permanent remedy for this. I have some jeans that stretch out during the day and shrink when washed, only to stretch back out when I wear them again. Others have enough stretch that they bounce right back as I wear them, and I can wear them several times before washing because they keep their shape so well. And others just don't yield or stretch no matter how long I wear them or how many deep knee bends I try doing. I think it's just a matter of fabrication, and I don't think any soaking or washing treatment can change that, although I'd be interested to know if anyone has found a solution.

Dear fabbers, most of us had experienced jeans that stretches/bags out during wear. Is there a way to permanently shrink the jeans? I'll deal with squeezing into a too tight a jean to start, with the hope it would stretch out to a comfortable fit during the day.

I checked the web. Mostly deal with the 100% cotton fabric (think Levi's shrink-to-fit). Have anyone actually successfully had shrinked these 1-2% spandex/Lycra blends? Does soaking in fabric softener really work? What's been your remedy that worked for you?
