I should add that I'm getting a bit bored with dresses. I suppose wearing them with booties or tall boots with a scarf -- as we move into the fall -- will re-energize me there, but in general, I'm craving separates again.

On the plate for this weekend: get ruthless with my closet. This is going to be an interesting exercise, reducing the amount down (temporarily, until we move) to 30%.

Ooh Susie! I like your recommendations! That cashmere sweater looks particularly yummy!

Colette, I do have light blue jeans that are very similar, and still fit! I bought them as boyfriend jeans (loose) and they've accommodated weight gain so now are more like regular jeans.

Thanks Elizabeth! My packing strategy lately has been quite minimal and easy, and perhaps too boring to share with YLF. My travel has been mostly to NYC (practically feel like a regular commuter). So it's basically been this no-brain formula:

1. Black or ink dress -- I have a lot of dresses in these neutrals, in varying styles. V-neck sheath. Assymetrical hemline. Scoop neck with ruching (this is the knit one that disappointed me -- love the shape and fit, don't love the pills). A-line trapeze with elbow sleeves.

2. Statement necklace

3. Topper: Jean jacket (if the meeting is casual enough) or white linen jacket or summer weight cardigan or suit jacket (if meeting involves customers).

4. Wedge heels or SW Chanel-like ballet flats. Both are comfortable and can be worn all day long. I've been wearing the flats a lot lately because my back has been bothering me.

5. Clutch

Depending on the travel situation, I may toss in a black maxi to wear on the plane ride home. If I'm tired and not traveling with coworkers and traveling late, a maxi is like wearing pajamas. Comfy and warm!

I've also been wearing my white jeans occasionally but I get nervous traveling in them. Black and ink are more forgiving.

Good to see you! Dresses sound like they have been a great option for you...I would love to have more summer dresses. But too bad about the knits not wearing well. At least you know what NOT to buy.

If you wear ink, this Lafayette 125 jacket was an Angie pick and I am thrilled with it. The quality and fabric are wonderful. It does run big.

I also added this Halogen cashmere tunic in 2 colors. I am short and the length works well for me.

I've worn this Ted Baker floral top on its own and plan to layer it in the fall.. It is a nice mix of colors.

I've also had luck with BR lately, both in petite and regular sizes.

Good luck with the packing and the shopping!

I think a lighter wash pair of jeans could perk up your fall wardrobe. I purchased these CE during NAS. I also found a few similar options from KUT and they are on sale.

Thanks Suz! I did look at Angie's NAS picks, but was so crazy busy never had time to finalize and make a purchase. But also, I love seeing what others here order and how it looks on them and how they are styling it -- way better than seeing on models.

I do love burgundy (of the blue-red persuasion). I think it does work with tomato red. I was on BR site earlier tonight and did order some things including a burgundy cardigan.

I am always going to be petite but I have noticed with weight gain I can sometimes make a regular work now. I'm not sure what the magic is there, though I am more reticent to experiment if I'm paying for shipping.

Oh -- those boots are killer retro fabulous and will bookend your hair brilliantly! What a great purchase. And the clutch is equally gorgeous.

I think we need almost the opposite in necklines and such, but I know BR has been getting a lot of love on here for the upcoming season and they do petites. (Though not all these come in petite). The finds are in burgundy which would look great on you but maybe not so great with your bag -- although you never know. Angie did an ensemble with burgundy and tomato red a while back!

Vivian highly recommends this top from Zara and it looks just as great on Cheryle.

Did you look at Angie's NAS picks for tops and sweaters? Sometimes these items go back on sale mid-season (or sooner) and you might get lucky. I picked up this sweater at the sale and it is gorgeous and works on petites. (Much better than the photo).

Yes, still going to be traveling.

Comfort, versatility, packability is key.

This summer I've been living 100% in dresses, which are easy. Some will translate into Fall and are still in good condition (major love to Ann Taylor for all season v-neck stretch sheath, which I duplicated in black and dark sky, and get a zillion compliments on every time I wear), while others (knits) just did not hold up well to travel.

I guess I do expect that with knits, but still, I am looking at you, Calson knit dresses from Nordstrom's!!! Fit great, loved... but dangit so many pills & barely made it through the summer!! That is the last of that brand I will ever buy. If I am tempted, reel me in again. I've purchased items from F21 that held up better.

I think I'm looking for tops, sweaters and jackets mostly right now. I am all set with pants and jeans at the moment.

I'm going to keep shoes tight until we move, so I think I can make do there for now with what I've got. Which includes a pair of snake skin boots I bought this summer when my daughter took me into a thrift shop. The look sort of like this - below... fit like a glove. And cheap. So I couldn't resist.

Also my other daughter gave me a gorgeous red clutch for my birthday -- that she picked out for me and brought home from Italy. This will be my "go-to" work clutch this fall, so anything that works with it... which is probably "everything"...

Jennifer, nice to see you post. It sounds like life has been stressful!

Is your work situation staying the same in the fall (i.e. travelling quite a lot?)

I ask because what will be useful for you will depend on what you're up to.

Sorry I've been MIA. I'm still here, we are just incredibly busy this summer, both work (traveling a ton) and personal (getting house ready to sell).

I'm about to clear out my closet to about 30% of what's in there now, to make it look more spacious when we put the house on the market. Not necessarily getting rid of stuff, but packing away.

That said I have gained weight and I still need a Fall refresh. I totally missed NAS this year. I can't go crazy but I'd like to add a few items to update. I just feel lost since I haven't been following YLF.

So please share with me your Fall finds / must-have's -- with bonus points if you think it'll fit me and what you know of my style. Kind of help by being my personal shopper? Because I have zero time to hit the mall right now, so online shopping it is.

Thanks in advance! Have missed you all!!
