Sunday I cleaned out my dresser drawers. I found 12 capri length high waisted shapers, 8 mid thigh high waisted shapers, about 5 body suits, lots of shaping tanks, two high waisted brief underwear. jeesh. Just when I thought i was going to buy some more after reading a book that says I should throw out all my undies and wear shape wear all the time. Not after doing shaper inventory!

One type I found that is not super restrictive but makes me feel good: Control it by Maidenform (wear your own bra). It is a high waist, mid thigh with straps body suit. It was only 10.99 at Burke's Outlet. I also have a mid thigh underwire Lipo In a Box that is a size XS that does the trick (I would like to buy the capri length but they are over $90). I also have several other spanx, assets brand, and I used to really love L'eggs High waisted profiles that are capri length. I'm also trying to make the switch to ALL nude color undergarments (I've been reading again, as you see)...

Sometimes I want tight as a tick and other times I just want to feel comfortable and able to move around with a little restriction. I also like some mid thigh Hanes underwear that have a very wide high waist band. Those hold me in nicely as well.

I also ordered, but it was too large in the cups, a Shapeez Unbelieveabra. I am sending it back to get a smaller cup size.

I am pretty gullible when it comes to shape wear I guess. I bought one brand the other day that, when I opened the box, it was scratchy as a brillo pad. Its going back. And, the gusset in the crotch so you can use the restroom was just a big slit. No overlapping fabrics. I know that there is no way I can wear one like that.

Personally, I like the capri length, high waisted ones best. That way when I wear pants, there is NO line on my mid thigh. I know they say you shouldn't be able to see a line, but i DO SEE a line. My legs have very loose skin (not fat) where I have lost a lot of weight. My inner thighs look like a pair of old fashioned drapes that hang low and swoop to the sides, and the mid thigh restriction just makes them gush out the bottom. TMI, sorry.

I think Rae is correct on what Spanx do, but I prefer them to the Target Spanx version. I have tried shapers from DKNY (nice until a few washes and then they ROLL ROLL ROLL - yuck). I had some great pieces from a brand that now escapes my mind (a woman's name - probably the first one, but no longer in existence). They make me feel better in certain outfits.

For my wedding, I wore a Dr. Rey high waisted to knee length shaper. I was happier with the tummy flattening from Dr. Rey than I was with my Spanks (I feel that those just smooth, and don't really *shape* if that makes sense).

I love shape wear. Every single time I wear it, people comment on outfit. I do not share the secret of shape wear. The piece I wear the most is a Wacoal camisole in beige. It fits. It smooths. It does not ride up.

I tired some other brands (names forgotten) and ended up retuning them because they did not hold in the tummy. Why bother?
