I wish my memory on the subject was better, because I truly don’t believe what it was that Nike had in the “plus” column, just the fact of the complex journey any article takes on its way to market. Beyoncé has recently been criticized for the low pay and poor conditions of workers making Blue Ivy articles, which are often considered to be an emblem of feminism. I’m not sure exactly what my point here is. I do think it’s important to financially support brands whose practices we support. I don’t think we should just throw our hands up in frustration. But I think it is much more complicated than that. They are all awful of course, but I’m selfishly sad about Topshop, because I like their things at Nordy’s and was looking forward to picking up the occasional item from them over here.
