I just shortened two dresses using Stitch witchery. Would that be an option for you?
http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-St.....B0001DSIHI
They have different strengths for different fabrics.

Is the edge actually a raw edge or is it finished, like with a serger where there is thread binding the raw edge? Knits can be really tricky, because they strech. You might consider a tailor for this.

I'm not San, but if I were to do it I'd use a rotary cutter. It's like a pizza wheel that cuts on a special cutting mat. Do you have any friends that quilt or sew?

San -

I want to shorten this dress.
http://i508.photobucket.com/al.....0_9078.jpg

It's a knit. It doesn't have a finished hem so I think I could just cut it. But I don't want to do it and end up with a hackeyed hem. Do you have any advice for me to get a clean cut?

Thanks!
