Denverfabrics.com has a good reputation and has tencel in various colors and weaves: twill, shantung and "linen", which might have enough drape.

I just got back from JoAnns. Ugh. Nuthin' there. We have a really nice fabric store in Royal Oak, maybe I'll pop in there tomorrow to see their selection.

@lyn* - Yes, most of our REAL fabric shops have closed too, unfortunately.

@Diana - Actually, no, it doesn't have to be denim. I'm open to others, as long as the color blends well with my wardrobe for fall into winter.

@JulieJohn - The sheets are an idea, but I don't want to buy a whole set. I do like the second link; there's a bunch to choose from there, and affordable too.

@Beth Ann - Nice list of sources! Thanks! I've had some luck with Etsy at times, too.

http://thehumblenest.com/2010/.....%A0online/

Above is a blog link that's a couple years old, but I bookmarked it for it's list of online fabric sellers. I think you could purchase tencel online, but it's the weight of it that would be hard to guess.

I've seen tencel at Joanne's fabrics, but their selection is spotty. If you have one nearby, you might call and ask if they're stocking it.

I had a skirt somewhat like this and loved it!

I love Tencel, and I love that skirt pattern, it's so graceful and sporty.

I did a little sleuthing and found this crazy idea - sheets! They are pricey, though:
http://www.bedbathandbeyond.co.....SKU=207827

And here is a source for Tencel that is more reasonably priced:
http://www.fashionfabricsclub......cel-Fabric

Have fun, and please share the results!

Oh, nice. I love this type of trumpet cut on a skirt, and it's so hard to find these days.
I think Tencel denim would be very drapey, right? So I'm not sure that more cotton-rich denim would give you the right drape. (This is actually why I got rid of all my denim skirts, because they were all so stiff.) I've no idea where to get Tencel denim though. Are you wedded to the idea of denim?

Ah well, don't be too hard on yourself Hindsight is 20/20, yes?

I'm no help with sourcing fabric - I find it really hard too; all the fabric stores in my area have gone under years ago.

Good luck - it looks like a fab skirt!

I tried this skirt on recently and fell in love with it. But the waist fit weird. Altering this type of skirt wouldn't do well, so I actually found the exact pattern for it and I'm planning on making it.

Now I need fabric. The Nic & Zoe is 100% Tencel denim and I can't find it anywhere. I found some very light weight denim (4.5 oz) that is supposed to be very nice, and also a cotton and 35% Tencel blend denim. I'm kind of kicking myself because I recently donated a, yup, 100% Tencel denim dress. It was a size 16 (yes, I used to be heavier) and would have provided plenty of fabric.
