I think you've figured it out, but the satin one is shiny on one side (like charmeuse) and duller on the other side. To keep the bow all shiny up you just need to do the Martha special bow where you tie two loops together (otherwise you end up with one shiny out and one shiny inside the loop) I have never heard of fairy ribbon. There are tons of patterned ribbons out there that might be worth a try. You should check a fabric store like JoAnns that sells by the yard and bring one of the ribbons that came with your shoes.

Thanks for taking a stab at it for me . . . I do have several color grosgrains already included. I was just dreaming of other textures

I think Mochi is right as well re: single-face.

Like alaskagirl is suggesting, I currently use grosgrain for shoelaces on my Doc Martens.

I think Mochi is right, and I THINK fairy ribbon is like that sheer silky ribbon used for princess and fairy costumes. I'd search for grosgrain specifically if I were you - that will be the best bet for what you need.

I have no idea what fairy ribbon is, and I'm going to GUESS what single-face is. I suspect it means that the ribbon has a front and back, rather than both sides being equally glossy or textured however way it is. It's kind of the way some scarves only have the full pattern on one side. Someone back me up?!

I am shopping for ribbons for my Mohops and don't understand these terms! What is single face? http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-8-RE.....20bf046671 and what is fairy ribbon? http://www.ebay.com/itm/380395.....1423.l2648 Are either one durable enough to use for shoe strings? Thanks!
