Gigi, I have the NYDJ "Sheri" pants in faux suede. They are soooo comfortable. They may still be available.

Kaelyn, I went online to Nordie's and found a pair of olive-green cords. And they were on sale! Those will be arriving later this week, I hope.

Brooklyn, I have been pinning things with fringes to my mood board for a while now, but I hadn't made the connection with '70s style. I'll be keeping my eyes out for something with fringe.

Bijou, I like the idea of jumpsuits. Thanks!

Anne, I do like the sleeveless vest. I wish that it weren't in the dead of winter here, or I would definitely find something similar. I'll have to look for something like that when the weather warms up.

Torontogirl, I am off to the Gap site to check out those flares. Thanks!

Angie, thanks for the article. :)

Bettycrocker, I hope I can find something in faux suede. I did pin a pretty suede skirt to my mood board, but I didn't make the connection between suede and the seventies. I'll have to see about pairings once I get more seventies pieces...like you say, the "fashion victim" look isn't something I'm aspiring to!

I love the '70s. My favs are corduroy pants, faux suede pants (my mother used to make clothing for me out of that fabric when I was a teen in the '70s), a tooled leather handbag, and flared pants. I pair these items with things that are not from that decade because I don't want to look like a fashion victim. Slim-legged pants were popular in the late '70s, so I also have those.

Was going to refer to Brooklyn's vest too ... other ideas, a floppy hat, and Gap has some nice light-wash flares on their website Have fun with it!

It depends upon what 70's style you are going for. A boho 70's style or the 70's glam style? I love Angie's recent 70's looks (the jump suit and black flared pants with pussy bow blouse) that have been 70's inspired but thoroughly modern.

Great suggestions from Kaelyn. I am going to throw in these:
Long, skinny scarf
Pussy bow blouse
Peasant blouse
Something with fringes eg vest, top or bag
Something in patchwork or crochet (or both) eg a top, skirt or bag

Corduroy pants! I have a purple pair I thrifted that I love to wear when I'm feeling retro. I also recently acquired one of those big, floppy hats. Anything suede would also be fabulous. My mom has a couple tan suede shirts, also thrifted. If you don't want to commit to it fully, I'd suggest sticking to a few versatile pieces that pair well with more modern pieces and go with your overall style.

I've been feeling lately like incorporating more seventies style into my wardrobe and am wondering what pieces would be best to buy. I think this is going to be a bit of a shadow persona, so I only need to make a few outfits. So far, I have a pair of dark-colored bootcuts, and I am considering looking for a pair of lighter-colored flares. I just ordered a jeans jacket. I was thinking that a striped turtleneck sweater would work well also. Any other ideas?
