@k can shop Awww K you're so sweet, thank you! It's good to know there are others out there with the same struggle! A lot of my friends are hourglass/pear types who constantly complained about gapping waists on their jeans whereas people like me WISH I would have a waist! But yeah - I think the more other ladies know that there is someone out there with a similar issue, the better they'd feel. We can all keep coming up with a better solution, somehow!

@Glory - Glad you're trying the INCs! I wore them today and they were soooo comfy. Of course, I got the knee-bagging issue again though (what else is new) but the jean hugs the bum and thighs very well (depends on how thick your thighs are though. Mine tend to be on the thick side but I have slim knees/calves). Reitman's is worth a shot. Sadly for me, the Reitmans still dug into my belly. When I tried a larger size, the bum was too saggy. it's a dealbreaker. However, some apple/rectangle types have been happy with them!

@clearlyclaire - Yup - I tried NYDJ's last night and found that although the waist fits amazingly, I still get the dreaded knee-bag. I wish I wasn't so picky on that!

I think I'm a squishy rectangle shape too. Thanks for the body shape clarification! (I also have very little jeans luck, and can't offer you help. Wish I could - most of mine muffin top, and I live with it)

Ugh, the waist is the hardest area for me to fit as well. My Rack usually has NYDJ, if you have one near you, it might be a good place to try.

so glad you found something that works for you. I am actually going to check these out next time I am at the Bay. Also going to try the comfort denim from Reitmans - hoping something might work there although the tucking would still be an issue.

MsKK, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you posting these discussions. The other day I was bending over and my 2-year old daughter grabbed a big handful of my muffiny belly. All I could do was sigh. (Little rascal, she's responsible for a pretty big share of that muffin!) So, just wanted to let you know that I value your candor about your jeans search and your feelings of frustration. For a long time when I was younger, I felt like I had to be the only person around who struggled with jeans that pinched at the waist. And that was long before I had kids! It's always nice to know that there are lots of wonderful, fabulous, LOVELY gals out there who face that struggle too.

I *also* have good luck with Inc brand, particularly their ponte knit pants. I have this hunch you will have same luck with same brands I wear. Give the Urban Outfitters BDG High Rise Cigarette jeans a try?

I bought a pair of the NYDJ - 2 sizes smaller than I usually wear & they still ended up baggy, so I think it's a great idea to try them without paying too much.

So back to my squishy rectangular jean search - I managed to take a couple hours today just to return the Rockstars and try out a few pairs of jeans.

I sized down on NYDJ's and they squished my tummy. The NYDJ leggings fit me nearly perfectly aside from the mild knee-bagging. However, it'd be great on its own with flats or pumps. I also tried a pair of the NYDG pull-on skinny style and they work best on me, I feel. But the price tag.... eeeesh...

I walked out of the store with a pair of INC pull-on jeggings. They are actually a pretty good jegging material - more jeans than leggings, but it has that unattractive pull-on elastic waist - which is fine if you're not tucking in your tops. It doesn't have back pockets which is a bit of a bummer to me.

Anyway - the waistband fit comfortably and there was no bagging. SCORE! My only problem is, I probably need to ensure that my crotch is covered all the time. I was really hoping I don't have to do this all the time, but if these are the only types of jeans that fit me, then so be it.

I've always had luck with INC pants to begin with. A lot of them are ponte knit or made of stretchy material. Some of them are actually quite thick. I remember they have bootcut dress pants in ponte knit, so if you like bootcut (and you're a squishy rectangle/apple), I'd recommend you give them a try.

Anyway - that's it. I think I'm going to scour eBay for NYDJ pull ons and leggings from here on.

Thanks for reading. I'm hoping to end my rant here
