I have only ordered from them twice so far. I did a lot of searches by designer and also searches by "black top", for example, which yielded a few pages of black tops.

I have not yet had the experience of split shipments so I just factored in the $6 return shipping fee and ordered a bunch of things I would like to try, knowing that many of them will go back.

Like just now, I figured if I pay $6 for the opportunity to try on some fairly unique leather jackets in the comfort of my home, that's not too bad. Now that I am ordering mostly online (and returning a lot), I almost never spend time in the mall so I figure I am saving time and money it would take to drive to the mall and wonder around.

I have only ordered from their "sale" or "past season" collections because of the price. So, for example, the Muubaa jacket, if I kept it, would be about $250 - a lot less than anywhere else, and it is not really available in all that many places in the US.

Last time I ordered from Yoox, they refunded me the cost of returned items very quickly, which was better than Nordstrom. It always takes me several weeks to get a refund on Nordstrom returns since I have to do it by mail; sometimes this takes me into a new credit card cycle and I have to pay for things I have already sent back.

I read that New Yorker article--so interesting.

I shop at Yoox a lot, and I'm a very frequent returner. I guess I just add in the $6 or whatever and don't think much about it. I really like that I can find stuff that is pretty unique or distinctive. I love their footwear (boots!) especially. I almost always buy Italian-made footwear now, with leather lining, beautiful finishes, etc., at prices that aren't much higher than what you would find at Macy's or wherever.

Una, yes, the site is not set up in the most user-friendly way :). I appreciate Dana's comment about shopping by designer. I do that a lot (with footwear brands too), but I also browse for general categories of things, like "skirts, autumn-winter, knee-length, green, organized low to high cost" when I was looking for an army green skirt. For me, this is a pretty decent filtering system, though it's not perfect (I would love a multi-color color option, like asos.com has, so I could search for prints exclusively). I use the back button once I've looked at a particular item, and haven't had the issue you're describing. For me, shopping there is worth it because I really like their merchandise.

Good question. I gave up on them because they had so much that was tempting, but ended up going back.

Yoox is really designed to be searchable by designer. Key words do not work. I don't know why, but if I had to guess it's because their volume and turnover is so great that they are relying on photos and not text. It's very specifically a visual site and one person's cropped is another person's bolero. I am disappointed that I am no longer able to search by fabric, but oh well.

I have never had the issue you note with returning to the all-search page. It sounds like our search strategies are different, though - I sort by designer name or broad category, then by price, and scroll through a full search very quickly.

They are also currently offering free shipping, although return shipping is $6.

Email help is pretty useless unless it's about an order. I've had very good luck calling, however. Although I've never called about item details.

Other people get amazing stuff on there. I don't have the Yoox karma. . . I bought one pair of boots. They sent me the wrong color. I kept anyway, they didn't work, and I wound up selling them at Buffalo Exchange for nothing.

But I know Yoox is magic for some!

I... don't. I have become so nitpicky that I return a lot, and $6 every return adds up.

You have to wing it. When I was looking for the green sandals, I wanted to know if their Ash gladiators had silver or gold hardware. I'd seen pics of both. My emailed question came back with a blanket non response, and I went ahead with the order on faith. It had silver hardware afterall, as pictured on their site, but I had no convincing answer either way about it. Returned them in the end for fit reasons.

yoox is a terrible web interface. you have to just plug away at it and guess your size.

i wind up buying and returning a lot so i just mentally add $6 to the cost of the articles that i really want to see if it's worth the back and forth. on top of that, they ship out in incomplete lots so i've run up against the return deadline waiting for packages to arrive before shipping out the returns on time.

that said, i've bought a some great bargains from there, include an amazing costume national mixed material tuxedo jacket. sounds kooky, but i love it. so, don't let this discourage you from trying it out. there are some fantastics deals out there especially if you know your size and how the item fits from a particular designer. it helps if you can shop full priced stores for reference re designer sizing.

tips: i usually search the sale sections first by item type then narrowed by designer. the "current" season is still too pricey for me.

So many people have said they love it, but the searching drives me crazy! For example, I put in "cropped jacket" and every jacket comes up.

http://yoox.com/us/women/shopo.....d%20jacket

Then when I narrow down my search and click on a specific item, when I hit "return to search results" it goes back to the main page. And how do you find the measurements for anything? Boot height, shaft width - is that all just a guess?

I see lots of things I want to file away for later reference, but it's so totally overwhelming and the search categories are so broad.

I've posted about this before but didn't get much response. Anyone willing to give advice? Or am I just missing something?
