Yes, generally I start with one item that I want to wear (eg jacket, skirt) and build from that according to mood/theme. But sometimes it’s a combination that I want to try - like a colour combination or an idea (like layering a green open knit over a copper top). It’s a lot easier in winter when you can count on it being cold or summer when you can count on it being hot. Transitional seasons are harder because the weather plays a big role in my choice. I am prone to overheating up top and getting panicky if I do. So then the decision is: what layers will work best for the expected temperatures today (assuming I’m going out). So I start with that and build around it.</p> <p>Thanks Suz. Interesting! So maybe there is a link between humidity and the itch factor for wool/cashmere? That would make sense for me. I am a fan of and am doing a lot of outfits myself with layering jackets of all sorts (denim or other) over midi skirts in spring all fall weather.&nbsp;<br />Interesting and great idea&nbsp; on your other transitional layering, I rarely do that (layering a sweater on a cami with the idea of removing it when warming up). I really love them for transitional weather in particular but the cheaper ones do tend to stretch out and some of them fade, too. But they are a great option.&nbsp;</p> <p>It's interesting about the itch and it makes me wonder for some of us what role climate plays. When I lived in Ontario, I could wear cashmere without itch. Now that I live on the warmer, less dry west coast, I cannot wear cashmere without an underlayer. So a cashmere cardigan is okay but pullovers are a risk unless I want to wear a long sleeved tee underneath as well. Merino still works for me here, if it is is high enough quality.
