Karen13, I'm pretty excited about mustard as a colour that lightens up outfits without feeling like a light colour; it still has some visual heft to it. I'm calling this whole family of colours -- which could also include tan, ochre, camel, cognac, rust, etc -- "earthy brights" and it's an important part of the direction I want for the next little while.

I am really hoping I get to add some corduroy pants this year. Waiting on Boden to send me the right size!

I love that mustard on you. It pops so well against the dark plaid. The variety of temps this time of year means everything gets a work out. Definitely transition season in my mountains. I'm about to pull out my corduroy pants, but I see it will warm up in a few days.

Sal -- I'm really enamored with Uniqlo's Supima tanks -- nicely fitted, armholes don't gape, wear like iron. I have three and might add another colour next summer.

Shevia -- Warm fall/cool summer suits me! This is the best time of year for me, style-wise. Layered but not bundled.

Great set of outlooks - I love 3 and 6 - they stood out but you look terrific in them all.

I am tracking too - it is quite a process at the moment:)

Tanks are one of those harder than they should be - thick enough - not too skimpy, not too substantial, fitting but not too body con....

Angie, yes, in #4 I'm wearing stripy purple-multi socks. They have a minty green in them that works well with the minty Adidas. It was a triple-stripe day! I was actually tempted to chop my bob over the summer, but I've been cast in another show where the director wants me to leave it long (well, long-for-me). So long it is, for now. I will grab a photo of the olive/navy outfit next time I wear it -- it seems to be a FFBO, so it shouldn't take long.

Barbara Diane -- I really enjoyed wearing the plaid-and-ochre outfit. It's the most autumnal I've felt this year!

I want to see the anti-fashion outfit - it will probably become a trend ;)

Thanks for taking pics, La Ped. SOOO great to see the visuals with the analysis.

I adore the way you wear your Breton stripes. It doesn't get old.

My faves: #3, 4 and 7. Do I spot cute socks in #4?

Your bob is LOVELY too.

Sterling, it's the old "Keep it Simple" rule!

Mainelady, Katerina, and Jussie -- thanks for the boost on the black vest. It's a totally new silhouette for me so it's going to take some practice!

Style Fan - the Madewell culottes are pretty substantial, but no moreso than any of my denim. They hit pretty high on my ankle and leave a gap, so not ideal for cold weather. My black Everlane pants are more of a Kamm pant knock-off, a bit longer and thicker than this rust pair, so they are better in cooler temps.

Greyscale, I'd be in trouble if I could shop Everlane in-store! The hassle of ordering/returning/using up credit keeps me in check.

Bijou, Wise Shopper and others -- I have a very small jewelry collection, so I don't think about it much when I'm planning/tracking outfits. But it's definitely part of my style, and having only a few pieces ensures that they become "signatures" ;)

It does seem like a lot of clothes, doesn't it? Fall and spring are always like this. Save for my long puffer and a few heavy woolens, I have *everything* out. I won't be able to put summer stuff away til sometime in October, but I definitely need warm layers most days.

You are doing a marvelous job of tracking. Tracking specific items and number of wears is aways interesting to me. I look forward to your final analysis and whatever lessons you learn about your style and future fashion direction.

This statement is fascinating to me: "A perfect-fitting tank top and perfect-fitting pants has a higher happiness factor than just about anything else I can think of -- it’s simple and perhaps even boring but I feel the most like “me” in that monochrome, almost completely unadorned outfit."

I wonder if perhaps I feel the same way .... but never realized it until I read your post.

Your long vest is so elegant and I like how you can really wear it with anything. That was a great purchase. Your jewelry is beautiful and interesting.....I’m swooning a bit over #8. May I join you on team Play Clothes? I have similar play clothes and while very different from my work wear, still very much me.

The tank and jeans outfit jumped out to me from the thumbnails of the pictures - I think having exactly the right jeans and exactly the right tank makes such a difference. I really like the long vest, too.

Play clothes was my mom's name for it (we'd change as soon as we got home from school), and it stuck.

(I went back to Everlane today to exchange my copy of your jeans for the longer version and they were sold out in the store so now I have to wait 4-10 days for them to arrive in the mail. Boo.)

A really lovely set of outfits, and those two necklaces are gorgeous. It's quite interesting to see a persons jewellery as it really is an expression of personal taste, in some ways more unique than the clothes.
I love your culottes/heeled sandal/vest outfit! Also the mint sneaks go so well the way you've styled them.

I am up to 59 items total, including gear and loungewear but not including bags and jewelry (I rotated between 2 bags and 3 necklaces and wore the same sunglasses every day, so I guess technically I'm at 65 items).

I did manage to take photos most days! I’ve disaggregated my data a bit here: items worn both weeks, items worn Week 1, and items worn Week 2. Some of the lighter weight, more summery items (linen, sandals, etc) did not get worn in Week 2. They were replaced by fall pieces (flannel, wool, boots, etc) as we had a couple days that dipped down into the 40s in the morning, and stayed cool and rainy during the day. All of my highest-wear items are lounge or gear, and my hardest working piece of “town clothing” is my black and white breton top from Uniqlo with four wears.

One interesting note: my outfit from Day 14 (a Friday) was nearly identical to my outfit from Day 1 (a Saturday). It consisted of a navy tee, olive chinos, and sneakers (a different pair this week than the week before). It’s an outfit that I fall back on when I am in an “anti-fashion” mood. I have a fair number of days when I don’t want even a trace of fussiness, where I simply want clothes that fit and function and draw zero attention to themselves (from others or from me). It doesn’t necessarily have to do with activities or level of busy-ness, more with my own state of mind. I also didn't get pics of this outfit either time around. Anti-fashion, you know.

I started experimenting this week with a long lightweight wool vest that I picked up on clearance over the summer. My first attempt at wearing it (with dark blue denim and a charcoal turtleneck) felt too dark and heavy, but was warm and cozy. My second attempt, for a warmer evening, had a higher happiness factor aesthetically (with the rust culottes, the striped top, and sandals with a bit of heel). Unfortunately that outfit relies on the weather being just right -- not too cold, not too warm, and not too rainy.

Aside from the slightly-fussy black/white/rust outfit, my favorite days were the black tank/grey jeans day (I also added a grey striped flannel in the evening but did not get it into the photo), and the linen skirt/white denim jacket outfit. A perfect-fitting tank top and perfect-fitting pants has a higher happiness factor than just about anything else I can think of -- it’s simple and perhaps even boring but I feel the most like “me” in that monochrome, almost completely unadorned outfit. It’s essentially what Greyscale refers to as “play clothes” -- my day consisted of a rehearsal and some set-building, and a couple hours of volunteer work on a local hiking trail -- and perhaps that’s part of why I like it best.

Note: wear counts in comments. Photos below loaded out of order: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday evening, Saturday (last weekend), Monday, Thursday, Saturday (today), close-ups of jewelry.
