This is a great capsule wardrobe. The warmer tone colors are so pretty. And kudos to you for getting sorted on your capsule.

You should feel proud--you've put together a small seasonal wardrobe that works well enough for you to mostly forget about it! I always think you look great in your clothes, modern and free-wheeling. They suit and frame you perfectly, without demanding too much attention for themselves. The golden olive and raspberry combinations are particularly pretty; they make me think of heather. My own Fall wardrobe hasn't quite coalesced, but an unusually cool late Summer has me thinking about it. Having seen your compact collection, I feel like spreading out all my Autumn stuff out the bed, too!

Looks GREAT.

My suggestion - don't hold yourself to a January no-shopping-ban. But DO road test the Fall capsule and see where your preferences lie. Listen to your feelings and follow your dressing mood. You can't figure out your most accurate emotions until you're actually in the season. Then fill in the gaps. Lose what you're not feeling and top up with what you are.

Sal, I think I was picking the wrong fabric, re: dresses. Each was polyester woven, and that might be the problem. I need a break from dress shopping and perhaps I'll start up again in the spring.

Sandy, thanks for posting and yay for the camo scarf! I thought it was fun. I know it's crazy to say that it took me five years to figure this out, but there are many small things I learned about my style that took time and experimentation. For example, I like more variety of silhouette in the summer, necklines need to be fairly tight to the shoulder, I need very curvy fit jeans...little details like that.

I shop at the Gap, Banana Republic and JCrew...so it is very easy to build my wardrobe.

The only recent shoes are the khaki olive booties which are dolce vita and I got at Town Shoes. (Not sure this retailer is available in the US.)

The sneakers are Ecco and I think the style is still available.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been working on a fall capsule wardrobe for the first time and my colors are almost identical (I bought the same camo scarf when Angie posted it too!!). You also encouraged me by saying it took you 5 years to come to wear you are at....I need reminders that it is an ongoing process. I would love to know where you purchased some of your items if they are recent. Your style is very much like mine.

Wonderful collection. Fun to have a high joy functioning collection that works for you, then changing it up in a couple of months.

When I did the 30x30 I did not include scarves but I think I did include bags....

I like this idea very much - and it would work for me in all seasons except spring where our weather is totally unpredictable.

This definitely seems like a milestone on the way to wardrobe nirvana. I wish I were better at keeping myself to a small capsule like this... though to be fair I don't have seasons or colors, so there's no reason not to keep my whole closet in rotation. But still, I think your approach is really great.

I love that you did this. It makes me want to do the same, though autumn still seems terribly far away here, now that we've climbed back into an extended forecast of 80s and 90s. I'm painfully bored of my summer clothes at the moment, and I haven't really bought anything for fall yet.

I don't see a problem with rotating through four pairs of pants, and it's interesting that your choices seem to have formed two natural capsules. Your footwear, especially, looks fantastic!

EmilyK, I will post something. I'm excited about my cargos.

FrannieB: My capsule is definitely in the spirit of your "high joy" posts. I am still moving high Joy into my wardrobe. I've realized that high Joy does not mean high colour, high pattern, high creativity: it is mostly "good colour combinations" and to a lesser extent "quality feel".

Delurked: My fit issues with shirts are that they pull too much to the back when the shoulder and bust fit. If I get something with shoulders that are a bit big, everything hangs nicely. So I think that shirts are just not cut big enough at the back.

The scarves actually serve a functional purpose for me in the winter.
The thermostat said 68F yesterday and that feels very cold to me (for indoors). 74 is perfect for winter. 79 is good for tshirts in the summer.

A couple things.

I like the colors and what I'm seeing in your pics. It's interesting how different what we each pick would be. Not a single scarf would come into play for me, freeing up quite a few slots. But I also can't imagine running cold enough to only wear sweaters. Please enjoy them for me.

I have broad shoulders and can almost never wear shirts because I'm like the hulk in them. If they fit the shoulder, they're often too loose through the torso, still too tight through the bicep, and gap through the bust. Maybe they work best for narrow square shoulders?

I'm not choosing a wardrobe from my clothes, but I will join you in your goal of no more shopping this year. I'm not sure I can achieve it, but I don't have a need to shop and will give it my best shot.

Brooklyn: I don't wear any blouses or tshirts in the fall. I run cold. I hate the cold and am not a true Canadian and really just want to go live in Brisbane or some other wonderful place like that.

I couldn't find any skirts and dresses and I tried on a lot. I didn't like any of the ones I showed the YLF team. There is an impasse here. I'll try again but I'm tired of shopping right now!
