Another vote for the plaid skirt and the silver mules. Wear and repeat!! The fair isle looks wonderful in this combo too - less preppy. And the olive chino are good on you.

I like them all - soft, practical, modern, pretty!

And very elegant cats.

Thank you Jenny H! Yeah, that striped sweater is dreamy. It's a silk-cashmere blend, and feels like wearing a cloud. In a good way!

Kate the cats are indeed my hands-down favorite too. Thank you for the skirt and mules love as well!

Thanks all! I appreciate all the love for the kitties, and the plaid skirt! And the votes of confidence on metallic loafer mules.

Ket, khakis/chinos are kind of my nemesis too...but I'm learning to be the boss of this olive pair. :-)

Cookie, thank you for your comments! You've prompted me to think I should pair that pink v-neck with the hair scarf...

Suz, ha! Sometimes the unlikely emergency combinations turn out surprisingly the best. Looking forward to getting more wear out of that scarf as the weather turns...And I think I'll try pairing it with pinks/roses (there's a smidge of pink in the print).

Lisa thank you for your detailed comments...and for the olive/teal/mustard inspiration! GREAT idea to try the olive chinos with a pink cardi. On my list!

Star, you had good advice about the vest styling. Thank you!

Brooklyn, thank you! I will take "effortlessly cool" gladly. The jeans are from Gap, secondhand (short rise people problems). The cut is called "real straight," I've been looking for a straight-leg jean with just the right amount of slouch for years and now that I've found one I'm stocking up when my size pops up Ebay. Your query prompted me to look at the tag and apparently they are from 2010 if you can believe it! Thanks for the 3-necklace suggestion...I'm playing with that as we speak. If 3 is the perfect number of cats it makes sense that it would be the perfect number of necklaces too!

And thanks again Runcarla, Dee, Joy, and Jaime!

Congrats on your remix challenge. I support the suggestion to put the pewter loafers into your regular rotation. I like low key metallics because they go with almost every color.

Great set. I’m loving the straight leg jeans outfits in pics 4, 6 & 14. No 6 is my favourite outfit. Very effortlessly cool. Plus ombre. Sigh. What brand are the jeans? I also love the skirt and the teal and olive outfit. Lots of variation here. I like the pop of colour the necklace adds in pic 11. Can I suggest adding a third necklace of a similar thickness? I think layered necklaces look better in combinations of 3 or 5. (Rule of 3 and all that.)

And your cats are gorgeous!

15 is totally fab. I much prefer the vest with a collar-less, unpatterned top under. What an amazing skirt. I like the silver loafer mules and think you should put them in rotation when the weather is apt, you can wear them with skirts/dresses too. Your cats are adorable.

1 - Sometimes a simple outfit is exactly what a person needs. I appreciate your slipper socks. I used to wear socks around the house (non slipper one's) and slipped down an entire flight of stairs. Now it's slipper socks or slippers only, no plain socks on the stairs!

2- Great skirt and pattern mixing here. Yes, wear the skirt more often!

4 - I envy your pullover here, as I am still in shorts wearing weather right now in my area.

5 - *high five for olive and teal and mustard* Isn't olive and teal so lovely paired together? I like the combination. Also I don't mind the clogs here, they look comfortable.

6 - Panic fallback outfit looks good to me. It's nice to have a few outfits to rely on when stuck scrambling for an outfit of the day. That's one reason why I create capsules, I may not wear them daily but they are there for me when I need an outfit I don't have time to think about.

8 - Skirt and leggings are lovely paired together here. And pretty print on the pullover too.

9 - These soft colors are lovely on you. This is actually my favorite outfit out of the group and it wasn't an easy choice, you have some lovely outfits here.

13 - I live olive and pink together and have worn olive and blush myself this fall. And a topknot and scarf sounds like a great pairing!

14 - One can never go wrong with a FFBO. Teal is lovely for fall. This reminds me I need to wear my teal blouse again soon.

15 - I really like how the vest is styled here. This is my second favorite outfit out of this group.

18 - *pets the gorgeous trio of furbabies*

19 - I agree with your assessment, and I wonder if the pink cardigan in 9 would work with these olive chinos? The colors look like similar saturation level.

21 - What fabulous shoes! I've never found that mules that didn't fall off my feet, but I like the idea of mules for a transitional season shoe. I also think loafers are a nice option for a shoe with a little more heft to it, without diving into boots yet. I'm also a big fan of sneakers and find switching from canvas to leather or waterproof options work well for transitional weather.

Love that skirt in 2/ 3 and 15!! For SURE you should wear the heck out of it in transitional weather. Lovely shape and drape. And plaid!!

My other favourite outfit is your emergency weather update #12. What a beautiful scarf!

I think the loafer mules can work well with casual outfits. Why not? They elevate them a bit. Of course it depends what you are doing. If you are actually moor stomping they are not the most appropriate. Right now I'm wearing my oxfords a lot and my silver sneakers. I'm not quite ready for boots. But that is coming soon.

Your cats are beautiful and appear to know it!

Edit: ok, that is not all. I really like the outfit with the skirt leggings a LOT though I kind of scrolled past initially because it’s a bit hard to see in the photo what’s going on. Love the hair scarf. Would also love the skirt with boots, even better for moor tromping. Love your amber necklace. And #4 is what I used to wish I looked like, before I managed to stop wishing I looked like other people who are nothing like me.

Oooo, Sarah! My favorites:
2-3, plaid linen skirt. It's such a beauty!! And I love how you mixed it with stripes here.
15-17, drooling over your fair isle!
19, olive khakis! Khakis are my nemesis, technically speaking. but they're terrific on you.

21-22, killer shoes! OH MY LANDS! These are fabulous on you!
18, I just love your cats! They're gorgeous <3

Hi folks, I’m behind in posting my outfits for my September no-repeats challenge so here is a big photo dump of weeks 3-3.5. I think I’ll then combine outfit pics from the last few days of the month with an overall recap, so that should be coming next week.

1: Mid-wash straight jeans, blush high-low Aran pullover. Simple outfit for another quiet day at home (hello again slipper socks).

2-3: Navy/black plaid linen skirt, cropped Breton pullover, blue clogs. I love this skirt!! I find it really flattering (if I do say so myself), it’s comfortable, and it has the right length and level of swish for imaginary moor tromping. Although linen, the heavy weight and dark color palette make it feel appropriate for fall. Need to remember to wear it often this time of year!

4: mid-wash straight jeans, orchid ribbed v-neck sweater. Colder today so brought out the long-sleeve pullover for the first time.

5: olive chinos, teal 3/4 sleeve cable pullover, amber jewelry, tan clogs. My version of Lisa’s olive and teal with mustard accents, though I’m really stretching the definition of mustard. Note to self: get some mustard fair isle socks. Not sure how I feel about the clogs with this.

6: mid-wash straight jeans, blue ombre 3/4 sleeve pullover. Panic fallback outfit when what I’d planned to wear went VERY wrong. Like, “I’m an extra in Fiddler on the Roof” wrong. Let us not speak of it further. Closeup of the pullover in 7 as it’s very pretty and I wasn’t sure the ombre effect came through in the full-length photo.

8: black skirt leggings, Dutch floral short sleeve pullover, navy Aran cardi, black ballet flats

9-10: mid-wash straight jeans, white embroidered cap sleeve top, rose cardi, pink canvas tennies. Very close to a previous outfit but I was kind of boxed in by the fact that I was going away overnight with my husband and trying to stick to a color scheme. Technically I am still within bounds of the no repeats challenge.

11: what I planned to wear: black skirt leggings, blush high-low Aran pullover, black ballet flats. 12: What I actually wore, because it was colder than I’d expected and our accommodations were also quite rustic: the above plus a sweatshirt and scarf over top!

13: olive fleece midaxi skirt, pink 3/4 sleeve pullover sweater. Continuing to explore the pink/olive combo! I need to figure out how to do a high bun/topknot more neatly, but I think the idea of a topknot with a little scarf tied around it has some potential, what do you all think?

14: mid-wash straight jeans, teal 3/4 sleeve cable pullover. FFBO for a high-stakes zoom call where I needed a reliably flattering neckline!

15-17: navy/black plaid linen skirt, black long-sleeve tee, fair isle sweater vest. Much better than my first attempt with this vest, thank you all for your good suggestions last week!

18: cat interlude to reward you for scrolling through all these photos

19-20: olive chinos, blush high-low Aran pullover, amber jewelry. I don’t think this olive/pink combo worked as well, the colors are too desaturated for my preference. Lesson learned!

21-22: I have been pondering footwear which I think is one weakness of my current transitional capsule. I don’t want to wear boots yet, I’m sick of my canvas tennies (much as I love them), and those huarache mules no longer feel seasonally appropriate. Earlier in the month I had been pondering loafer mules, so I dug out this pair in that general genre (I’ve used these as house shoes in the past). What do we think? On the one hand my transitional capsule is pretty relentlessly casual, so I’m not sure how well the clothes will pair with dressier loafer mules. But this particular combo feels a bit Coastal Grandmother to me, which I can handle. Opinions and alternative suggestions welcome!

That’s it for now, thanks for looking and grateful for any feedback!
