Wowzer! You look great in all iterations to my eye. The yellow shorts look fab with the stripes to make a great casual outfit. The floral dress is pretty without being too sweet and finally the denim skirt looks great as the weight of the fabric works in its favour...to Sara's point about if it were flimsier fabric. And you have great legs! Oh, and I second Una's suggestion for grey with yellow as it sounds fab!

Thanks Jenn! I guess you're right. Its probably just in my head! Also - the skirt is straight so I may be thinking it's shorter, while the flared hem of the frock makes it seem ok because the edge of the hem doesn't sit close to my thighs. But I saw the photos very closely and you're right. Infact the dress may even be shorter!

What fun, bright summer outfits! To my eye, that denim skirt doesn't look much shorter than the dress, and they both seem appropriate.

The denim skirt is not too short at all. And I echo Sara L that because denim is a heavier and stiffer fabric, you can go a big shorter without it being obscene! LOL! I really love that cute little purse, too.

These are all great! The skirt is definitely not too short (my tolerance for skirt length is pretty high though). Plus, I think the fabric and style can make a big difference - this same length in a flimsy, flared style might read much shorter than this straight denim skirt. I love both your striped shirts and the lace on the back of the first top is a nice touch and somewhat unexpected.

Lyn...you can't see my back in this photo. The skirt is actually quite short when you see from behind, as it covers more area over my bum And if I happen to bend----well, it'll be a free show for all if I'm not wearing shorts underneath However, I've decided it's not 'that' short. I'm just going to wear it!

Love all the outfits, you show.
Dress fits you well-and I love a floral on a black background,

it's a grown up look to my eyes! Love the color of the shorts, and looks great with both tops! How clever those stripes for toning down it a bit, still be bright enough for the bare legs! And the denim skirt outfit is great for city walk, or errands. But to be it obscene??? What are you speaking about???? Nodding my head:-(.

Thanks Deborah. I don't know why I thought the skirt isn't a good fit! It's probably because it's a veryyyy low waist skirt, but good enough with the right top.

Thank you for the encouragement, Brooklyn. I absolutely love #3 too! Glad to know this works! I may even take this outfit to Singapore then!

Let the fun begin!

So this week was about trying to find a way to wear ignored items in my wardrobe and mix the old with the new. I have done well-----I wore complete outfits with the right sandals, accessories and a bag when needed. Here are 3 outfits I wore this week.

Outfit#1: I bought these Tommy Hilfiger shorts for my trip to Maldives. I just loved the happy colour! However, once I got home, I just couldn't find the right top for it. The bold yellow is way out of my comfort zone, to be honest. I did wear it on my vacation with a turquoise blue top and pretty colourful beads necklace (Image 3) but the whole outfit was way too loud for my personality. I needed a more relaxed top for these shorts. And I bought this striped tee with a lovely crotchet lace panel running down the back when I went shopping with my mom last week. I think this outfit works now. I felt comfortable and relaxed....the simple silver necklace and light blue sandals felt 'natural' in this outfit. Do you think this is a success? Or a miss?

Outfit#2: I keep clothes in 2 sizes in my wardrobe. I have quite a few days in the month when I feel 'bloated' and want to be comfortable. Yet, every time this happens, I resort to yoga pants or shorts worn with an oversized tee. Well, not this day I wore this simple printed knit dress from Dorothy Perkins I bought for Maldives in March. The print is happy and the fit forgiving....it's basically like wearing a long tshirt. I didn't want to wear a long necklace that would get 'lost' in the print, so I chose a simple short chain and pendant that's Atleast 6 years old. On my feet, I wore these old Dr Scholls sandals that are now past their prime and have been over-worn in the last 3 years, but I can't find a replacement since all the new Dr Scholls designs don't appeal to my aesthetic sense. I was relaxed and comfortable all day

Outfit#3: This denim skirt has been languishing in my cupboard for Atleast 3 summers now. I was convinced it's too short and usually wear it with tights, a sweater and boots in colder weather. I think the problem was that I didn't have the right top. In the past years, I've usually worn lose oversized tops to hide my bust...but that hid my waist too. This is another striped tee I bought shopping with my mum and I love the fitted sleeves. I was surprised to see how well it worked with this skirt! I wore 3 years old blue and black sandals and used a cross-body bag and a scarf when I went grocery shopping in this outfit. Sadly, I clicked the photos before I added the scarf. I loved this outfit! It was appropriately casual yet pulled together. This is the kind of outfit creativity I hope to achieve during my shopping fast. However, is this skirt too short? Does it look obscene without tights?

If you got this far....thanks for reading. All inputs/comments are more than welcome.

ETA: I realize that my posts get rather long. Seems like every post I do becomes a novel! I promise to work on them in the future to keep the content crisp yet provide all the info in my head.
