Brianna, have you considered having an Etsy shop? It seems like it's very user friendly, I've purchased a few handmade things there, but also I notice people have vintage or used clothing shops. Craigslist is so great for jobs, and apartments though. Oops, I forgot the link! :

I've also had good luck selling on livejournal communities. Often there are communities which are devoted to a certain brand of clothing or to a certain size (plus, tall, whatever). I've listed and sold stuff quickly on them, and it works well because you advertise to a select group who are fans of what you sell

I've had success selling on craigslist. For anything small & portable, I just ask to meet at a neutral spot - the local library or post office. I sold our bed from our guest room in the fall - I provided detailed pictures and then just had my husband deliver it. I don't really like the idea of having strangers show up at the door though...

My DH buys tickets all the time on craigslist (it's how we often go to theater and concerts at a discount - we wait until very last minute!). And we bought our dining room set through craigslist.

But, we gave up trying to sell things - or even give them away - through the site. It's just too much of a nuisance.

For example we sold two dressers via craigslist to a woman who, it turned out, lived only a few blocks from us. They were very heavy dressers. The woman came over to see them first. Because they were so heavy, she took out two of the drawers and popped them in her car, saying she'd come back later that night when my DH was home, and she'd bring a friend, so they could be moved.

Well, she never showed.

We waited and waited. We had no choice but to sell them to her, because she'd taken the drawers!!!

Finally, my DH called her and said "I'm leaving them on the curb - get them before 11 AM when the trash truck comes." This was days later.

She threw a hissy fit, whining about how she couldn't fit them in her car, yaddah yaddah. Anyway, ultimately, he hauled them over to her house - and dropped them on her lawn. And he told her to just take them for free.

She then called him back and ranted and raved - because it rained on them!

The nerve.

Anyway, that is just ONE bad example. We gave up.

This is very true. I only let someone come up to our apartment if my husband is home. Otherwise I buzz them into the foyer of the building and meet them down there. I never give out my actual apartment number. And always take cash!

One word of caution with Craigslist though--typically Craigslist purchases are face to face. You really need to be careful. My husband has sold lots of bike equipment on Craigslist, and for every ligit offer there are dozens of scams.

Hey guys, I've seen a bit of talk about eBaying clothes and how it doesn't necessarily work out too well. I just wanted to put in a suggestion to try selling them on Craigslist too. I've had good luck doing that. I have some winter boots and rain boots that I need to sell. I listed them yesterday, and I've already had a bunch of interest and will probably have sold them by tomorrow, for a fair bit more than I would have gotten from consignment. It's worth a shot! I've had good luck selling household items, too.
