I have no idea how many brands I tried, bought, and had to donate or sell. It was miserable.</p> <p>My complete gamechanger was Frye. I have two pairs of their Carson ballet flats and they are 100% amazing. I can go 10 hours in the things, and they look great.</p> <p>Definitely a higher price point, but for me, having two pairs of flats I actually wear rather than 7 pairs I can't touch was worth. That brand always impresses me with its quality and comfort. I was wearing a new pair of Franco Sarto pumps a few weeks ago and one of my friends, who is exclusively a discount shopper, upon hearing they were Franco Sarto, said, "Love that brand! Their shoes are always way more comfortable than they seem like they should be!"</p> <p>LOL at my self now! Went back to Emily's thread and saw that I rhapsodized over Franco Sarto there too. What advice would you give to someone new to shopping for decent-quality shoes? What brands would you suggest?</p> <p>I haven't been impressed by the durability of the Naturalizer and outlet Nine West shoes I've picked up on sale, but I've heard positive things about Clarks, Sofft, and Frye flats. I think I can spend up to about $120, and I'm willing to comb eBay or wait for sales. </p> <p>I have the vague idea that I would prefer leather and that I don't want any fussy embellishments-- just dead simple ballet flats.
