That is a great color for you. I’m with you on V necks. I feel very uncomfortable with ones that are too big, and most are.

This dress is lovely on you and the Comrags items you have are all great pieces. I like wearing clothes with some synthetic in the mix because usually they don’t require ironing.

Thank you all, again!

Angie, two of those Comrags items are all natural fabrics -- the skirt is linen/ cotton (a lovely blend) and the blue and white batik dress is cotton.

The other items I've had from this company have included a poly or nylon or viscose component.

What I like about the company is that they really think hard about what will work best for that item, or what the fabric's properties are before they design -- and there have been times when, if they couldn't find a suitable fabric for one of their "basics" (they make a series of essentials -- a jewel neck black dress, a skirt, a shell, and a cardi) they just stopped making them for a while!

Gorgeous dress! You look lovely.
It's funny that these are the kinds of dresses that it can be easy to overlook when shopping. Yet, a classic style with a bit of a "lift" will be worn for many years, can be dressed up or down, and worn for a range of occasions - it is really a gift. And to have it last so well, too! A fab package.

Suz, so now I have to think about whether polyester really is that unsustainable - when in fact for clothing, it is what makes it very robust. Everything is a compromise

Angie, yes -- for sure sustainable! This dress has been in two closets and wears as hard as iron. If we are wearing it for a decade (or more) and it still looks good, that's some kind of miracle!

It's also really easily washable.

Gunn and Cornish (the female designers) really work hard to get their fabrics right. I truly admire this company's standards and approach. The aesthetic doesn't always work for me, but it works often enough that it's always worth a look, and when I do purchase, I'm never sorry. Workhorse items one and all. The ones I currently own in addition to this dress, below. I've owned more in the past but when I lost weight I had to pass those on.

Thanks, Suz. Not a pukka tech fabric piece "gear item", IYKWIM. Just a regular blend - and a very good one! I wear these blends all the time. 18% polyester remixed with natural fibres creates far fewer crinkles, and strengthens the fabric. Makes it last. THAT is also sustainable despite the synthetic nature of the fibre.

I am not really surprised. It does look like linen. But given how wrinkly linen normally gets, this company might just be onto something. I love linen as a fabric, but hate the wrinkles.

ETA: I just checked the fabric composition at Lyn's request -- it is a huge surprise to me, and may rule it out of the "tech" department, although it sure feels and acts like a fast-drying tech fabric. Anyway -- it is 64% linen, 18% viscose, and 18% polyester. What make you all of that?

On the neckline -- thank you all for your kind thoughts. I should clarify -- I adore V necks but usually aim for a narrower and shallower V for figure flattery reasons. I can't "fill out" most wide Vs. And even if I (almost) do (as here) I need to address proportional issues, i.e. show equal skin elsewhere or it looks disproportional on me.

Brooklyn gets it. I do sometimes wear a necklace with this to fill it in a bit, or a scarf.

Adorable!
I do so wish there would be more just- below knee length dresses as I feel they are easier to look good with flats and sneakers.
To still have coverage it’s important to be a bit flowy so doesn’t ride up when sitting. That was one reason I decided to get the flippy skirt.
Also your dress re- emphasizes what I have honed in on as the benefits of a woven fabric- rather than the ubiquitous jersey knots— as they are more forgiving and glide rather than cling. That was one of the appeals of the Sweaty Betty racer back dress and buyers claymores for more colors. A charcoal like yours is better for me also. But so hard to find!
Keep this dress!

I think the neckline looks fine too, even though I also tend to avoid this type of neckline, for the same reason as you. I am often drawn to them because I feel like they look better with a jacket than a high neckline because of the exposed skin. You could try filling it in with a chunkier, shorter style necklace or pendant. That’s what I do. That may not be your style of course. Or a scarf, but that can get hot in summer.

Suz that dress is fabulous on you. The neckline is excellent and not one I feel you wear often. And since you brought it up ... my technical fabrics in the form of Lululemon utility style pants, and a couple of athletic running leggings are second hand. I have found a good number of sports tops for my kids second hand also. And yes they wear incredibly well. I will flip when I find something from Comrags !

Thanks, all. Angie, it feels a bit like linen, too. Well...a bit like linen if it were polyester, LOL! What I mean is that it has the airy woven feeling. It is not slippery and soft. It actually feels similar to a fairly crisp seersucker, now that I think of it.

Close up of fabric -- ignore the stray cat hairs! This is why tech fabrics sometimes make sense for me, ha! :)

The neckline is technically (haha) too wide for perfect flattery for me and not my preferred narrower V, but I often wear with a scarf on cooler days. In other respects the style is good. Easy to dress up or down as occasion dictates.

KILLER

So flattering, Suz! I love it on you :)

It looks like linen, and not like the more popular slippery and soft tech fabric, IYKWIM. At least, it does in the pic!
