Your boots will be fine! No need for rubber. I don't even own a pair of those.

Angie, name the time and the place and I will be there! I am honoured that you would make the time. As I posted earlier, I certainly understand that this is a high demand holiday time for you and everyone, really, with Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Christmas but weeks away.

Anna, I'll send you a note...

Carla, I could have a quick cuppa with you in downtown Seattle on the 1st of Dec if that works (sorry that my schedule is so hectic and that I can't offer you more time). All are welcome to join us.

Hat - check!
Gloves - check!
Water proof footwear - check...I think!? If it works in snowy Toronto will it translate to rainy pacific north-west? (My boots are polished and waterproofed to within an inch of their lives - but mostly exposed to cold and snow vs constant damp.) Or should I actually be looking for rubber footwear? Like rubber boots or duck shoes?

I shall rethink the peacoat - I have another topper that will work and sheds rain better....

Would love to meet up for lunch or coffee with any available folks. I certainly understand the timing of this trip is not the best for a visit. DH and I will have a car at our disposal. I have my heart set on a trip to the Nordstrom flagship....

Sounds just right, except I would trade the wool peacoat for an all-weather coat (i.e., a raincoat with removable lining). That is my go-to topper this time of year and in this weather we're having. And I would be looking at the leather jacket as a mostly indoor piece, layering under the trench/raincoat.
It's a hectic time of year, but maybe we can meet--that would be fun!

I echo what the ladies say. It's been VERY wet, and that feels even colder when you live in the city and walk around a lot. Must wear weatherproof footwear.

Bellevue on the other hand is in the burbs so you'll spend more time in a car, staying drier and warmer.

You may want to think about gloves, a hat, and a scarf. It can get pretty chilly at night, especially if it's been raining, and it's better to be safe than sorry.

I used to have a beautiful pair of black leather gloves that looked so sophisticated with anything, and were quite warm on cold winter days.

Hi Runcarla,

Sounds like you have a good start on a packing list. I just checked the forecast for your time frame and it looks like possible snow with daytime highs around 40, night time lows in the 20's. It could change between now and then but sounds like it will be cold and wet.

Can you add waterproof footwear, hat, and gloves to your list? What sort of activities do you have planned?

I live in Bellevue but I will be missing the snow as we will be gone over the holiday. My kids are very bummed out we will not be here for the snow!

Do I need to bring hip-waders?

I will be visiting my Dad in Bellevue. No specific plans other than arriving late Nov. 24th and departing early on Dec. 3rd. Well, there will be a turkey at some point during the week...

Will skinny cords, turtleneck sweaters, a flannel shirt, knee boots, ankle boots, a leather jacket and a wool pea coat work?

Advice most welcomed.
