Luckily this happened just long enough after rush hour that there weren't more cars involved. My BIL travels this bridge from Bellingham into Seattle almost every day. So scary to think what could have happened. Even more scary? The state secretary of transportation said there were a number of bridges along Interstate 5 in Washington state that were rated lower than the bridge that collapsed. We travel over bridges over water regularly around here - its just a daily part of life. Yikes. And the affect this will have on commuters and commerce?
