I have a vague recollection of someone suggesting freezing wool sweaters so they don't shed -- I guess I'll try it and see what happens. It didn't even occur to me that the sweater would shed when I bought it -- but I'll be on the alert for angora wool from now on. I love the sweater so I'll keep wearing it even if it does shed.

I've never come up with a solution this problem, AJ (although, I never tried the sweater in the freezer thing, lol). I think you should try it and report back.

Sometimes this shedding thing goes away after a few wears, when the loose fibers work themselves out, but sometimes it never goes away. It's hard to tell for sure, all you can do is wait and see. I usually take a pass on shedding sweaters at the store because of that. BUT, I have found that if I wear a silky top underneath the shedding sweater, the shed is minimized (although, it doesn't go away completely). Raw silk won't work, it has to be slippery--like polyester, or satin-like, silk-cotton voile, etc--so there is less friction to pull the loose threads out of the knitting.

Hmm, I'm not sure if I'm confusing things, but for some reason, I seem to think that you can put the sweater in the freezer for awhile.... and somehow that's supposed to minimize shedding?

(I could be COMPLETELY wrong though!)

This is the outfit that I wore with the shedding sweater:
http://i514.photobucket.com/al.....G_1243.jpg

The white top is actually a 3/4 sleeve tee from Target. I don't know if the top actually attracted more fuzz or if the sweater really sheds a lot.

I wore my new Mango cropped cardigan this week over a white scoop-neck knit top. The sweater is an angora/synthetic blend. The sweater shed all over the top. By the middle of the day, the scoop neck showing above the sweater was covered with burgundy fuzz.

Is there any way to stop an angora sweater from shedding like that?
