Generally, the transition to fall comes with large fluctuations in temperature--really hot days mixed with really cold, windy ones. I have seen middle school kids ( about 12-14 years old) wear shorts to school in a snowstorm. Their teachers think they are too poor to buy coats but I they choose not to wear them.
