I'd wear the colors that make you glow and not worry about the season. That said, it's also hard not to be influenced and inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds you. So delicate blooming trees of spring invoke soft colors while the brilliant reds and golds of autumn trees seem to beg to be reflected in one's outfits.

My color palette doesn't change much throughout the year so I don't really consider colors in terms of the season.

My rule of thumb is if the stores are selling it "in season" (the sweater you mentioned in kari's post) you can wear it! I do have an assortment of cashmere v-neck and turtleneck sweaters in deep, vibrant pastels (pink, lilac, mint, etc.) but tend to hold off wearing them until mid-february. I live in the chicago area, so winter tends to last well past that point and i need something to inspire me to "think spring"!

I wear only the colors I associate with that season and save the other ones. But I don't mind others going outside-the-box, which probably means I'll be next. I am especially loving a mixture of whites in winter.

By the way, whoever came up with the idea that the color of snow is a faux pas in winter? Puh-lease.

Shannon had a similar post. I like to mix in some lighter colors in season appropriate fabric in the winter. It cheers me up in the dark months.

I always feel like wearing richer, deeper colors in the fall and saving lighter tones like mint for spring and summer, but if the fabric and cut isn't incongruous with the season, I don't see why you couldn't wear mint in the fall.

I'm always confused with colors to wear in a specific season. Is, for example, mint (which I find just so pretty, and which Kari has linked to for a nice combo) an OK color to wear in the fall?

Or is it OK if we are not following seasonal color rules any more? All thoughts are welcome!
