Thanks for sharing your beautiful Pinterest compilation. I see lots of high waisted blue jeans, striped button downs, beige trench coats and long wavy hair. Dressier (but comfortable) shoes rather than jeans gives the looks a casual elegance rather than a sporty vibe.

Those shoes are a genius hybrid of loafer and Mary Jane -:and gorgeous to boot!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! It's such a good feeling when things start to fall into place, in a combination of internal and external factors.

Thinking I might have to pull the trigger on the loafers...

I am creating mini wardrobes for each season I using accessories like bags, scarves, footwear and jewelry. Right now is Spring, which includes lighter neutrals for both cold and hot weather and flower motifs. Things not worn at all last year are seeing churn. I see quickly what I need and what there is too much of.

I agree that writing things down is very helpful! (not only wardrobe-wise). Your pinterest board looks lovely, simple chic, versatile - I like it. I think you will look very good in this type of clothing. Can't wait to see your future outfits! Generally I have no problems with shoes therefore I am just guessing that any shoe with a strap, horizontal or T-strap, would be good.

Great that you are feeling better and more inspired! I like the Hereu shoes. My favorite warm weather shoes are both covered and ventilated so I tend to go for fisherman styles too.

Yes to mary janes or t-strap shoes! They are all over the place right now. I am a fan of blue too and haven't had a lot in recent years. Sounds like you have a very concrete plan.

It sounds as if you are clear on your wants and needs, and already own most of the pieces you need to create the looks you want to create. I like the t-strap loafers. I'm guessing they'd stay put better than ballet flats or regular loafers because they are adjustable. I share this problem with footwear that doesn't lace or footwear that has a low vamp -- pumps and ballet flats and even loafers just fly off my feet as a rule. So t-straps, ankle straps, mary-jane type straps, or anything with greater adjustability is a good thing.

Fun stuff. Makes me want to dig through my wardrobe and do something similar. I am also drawn to blue. Even shades that are wrong for my ruddy complexion, like cobalt. I like the loudness of bright blues, and the quiet luxury of colors like navy.

In terms of shoes, have you considered something like a flat espadrille, or classic boat shoes?

Hello fabbers! After a winter of hibernation I am slowly easing myself back into the world. I haven’t had the energy to focus much on my wardrobe over the past months as my health has been all over the place, and just getting dressed at all has been a struggle. Doing better now, fortunately, and having fun rediscovering my closet.

One thing I did this winter was starting a seasonal capsule wardrobe, and it gave me so much clarity and was super helpful in making me see the shifts in my style with the seasons, and how my color and silhouette preferences change ever so slightly throughout the year. I feel like it gave me a pretty clear picture of where the gaps and challenges are in my winter wardrobe, and am looking forward to learn more in the coming seasons.

We’ve been having some really mild days here with temperatures up to 13-14 celcius, and my spring bulbs have started to bloom, so I am currently in full spring planning mode. I put together a Pinterest board based on the types of items in my wardrobe and how I would like to wear them this spring, and I’m noticing that I am really leaning into a more casual style. It’s been a slow transition, and I think I’ve been reluctant to let go of my more business casual mode of dressing, but it’s starting to feel right. I am also starting to accept that my style is just very minimal and basic, and maybe it’s boring but that’s ok. I hate feeling fussy and too styled, and most of all I just want to feel comfortable and like myself. I do prefer very simple, classic pieces, I don’t like a ton of detailing or accessories piled on. I like a pared down color palette, but I enjoy playing with texture, as well as styling and layering. I want to lean more into jewelry (earrings mainly) and invest in some more interesting pieces there.

I’ve also become mildly obsessed with the color blue over this past year, but especially now going into spring. After not having blue jeans in my wardrobe for 10-15 years I added a pair last spring, and another one a few weeks ago, as well as a chambray blouse and a pair of navy Adidas sneakers. It feels like a full circle moment for me, as I used to wear all shades of blue pretty exclusively when I was younger, before I ventured into all neutral black and white territory.

Like I mentioned this winter was kind of rough in regards to my wardrobe, but right now I’m feeling really good about where my wardrobe is at. I don’t need a ton of new pieces for spring, my main priorities are a spring jacket or two (would like a white cropped jacket of some sort, and a dark indigo denim worker jacket, which I might sew) and a pair of shoes that are dressier than sneakers. I love the look of ballet flats on other people, but they don’t look great on my short wide feet. I almost ordered a pair of Ralph Lauren loafers, before I remembered that loafers never stay put on my feet. Last year I was eyeing the Alber T-Strap loafers from Hereu, and I haven’t quite put those out of my mind…they come up a little higher on the foot, so better chance of not slipping out of them. Would also love any other recommendations in regards to shoes.

Anyway, that’s my little essay on the state of my wardrobe. I find it really useful to write things out like this, so thanks for reading if you made it all the way through! :)
