I have trouble finding tops too. I think my problems would be much less if there would be more tailored tops available. But, as they are still not (at least where I live), I manage somehow. Sometimes I buy a top and have it shortened and tailored, but that takes time and money. Sometimes I find a top which is a bit shorter and tailored, which is perfect for me, and then I buy it in all colors. And most important, I really love banded tops- I size down for wearing them with skirts and up for trousers. There are different banded tops available and you have to experiment with what works. This will not be helpful for you because those two brands are European, but for ladies with the same problem living in Europe: S Oliver and Street one always have some basic or more dressy banded t-shirts and also blouses available. I recently bought the tee below after rejecting the red (reflected off my tummy!) and striped (odd puff at bustline) ones in the same style. The ruching covers up lumps and bumps and creates a waist.</p> <p>I run cold and just discovered (I'm slow) linen blend cardigans. They cover up the arms, and if worn over something sleeveless or short sleeved hardly provide any warmth. The gray and coral ones are cut straight down from the lowered shoulder seams so are quite roomy in the upper arms and can accommodate big sleeves. Kut from the Kloth jeans, a pair of Born boots, a pair of Sofft sandals, Athleta capri pants &nbsp;-- these are items that I wear the heck out of and are still going strong after several years. &nbsp;</p> <p>Lately I have been feeling uninspired and I'm finding it difficult to find tops that are something other than a basic t-shirt. I don't know if it's my weight, body type, or my attitude but nothing seems to work. &nbsp;</p> <p>I went to the mall the other day, (no Nordstrom) and searched several department stores. I KNOW not to try on those smocked blouson type tops because they don't flatter but did anyway. &nbsp;If a top doesn't have some sort of fitted aspect it can be unflattering on my body. </p> <p>I tried on a handful of tops. &nbsp;Nothing flattered. Pictured is a blousy-type blue and white print top that was supposed to be off-the-shoulder and a orchidy-pink t-shirt. &nbsp;I bought the t-shirt only. Maybe I'm stuck and not trying on the right things.&nbsp;</p> <p>I'm looking for recommendations for tops. &nbsp;I think I'm an hourglass/apple/rectangle. &nbsp; I don't know anymore. &nbsp;Thanks for any advice and thanks for reading. &nbsp; </p>
