I had to size up in my yellow skirt to accommodate my hips comfortably even though I had to size down in the last year grey one. However I had it altered not to take in the waist in the sides. That was pretty easy to do and should not be very expensive. It was sitting on my hips before and now it sits on my waist. If size 4 fits your hips well you can consider taking the waist in.

thought I'd follow up - I went into the brick and mortar store and tried on a 2. Perfecto! Skirt exchanged.

The skirts are produced by different factories. The size system are not uniform. Especially ordered online, you'd better not to expect to be excellent.

I don't have this skirt either, but am thinking of ordering one. I think it's the nicest pencil skirt I have seen in ages. I did not on the website that they recommend you size down. I suppose it depends on how much you like it, but it's probably worth the effort of getting the correct size.

You could try the smaller size. (I have no experience with this skirt, just talking theoretically here.) If that doesn't work, if the 4 fits well in the hips and thighs, you could always have the waist nipped in.

Thanks for the input ladies!

Elly, I think I like the higher wasited look on me too - it makes me feel like I have more of one! And yes, it is definitely in the more olive family than the online photo appears. I quite like the color.

Nicky, l think that's what I will do. I'll drop by Nordie's tomorrow and try on a 2 (and a 4P, AG!) to see about the fit. I mean, it's okay at my navel but I think it would be better at my waist.

AG - I'm not that small, really. It's roughly a 10" difference between waist and hip, mostly due to the butt area I think! From the front I have definite rectangle tendencies. It's the side view where you notice the difference.

How about a 4P? You all must have tiny waists! I am not that big, but these skirts just do not fit me properly - if the waist fits, the hips are huge. I guess that's the IT dilemma.

I have this skirt as well. I usually wear a 10; I ordered this in an 8, and the 8 fits me similar to the way the 4 fits you. I like it though, because I wear it below my navel. It is very comfortable to me there. I think a 6 would fit me as well, and I think a 2 would look nice on you, but I think the 4 looks really nice on you too(if you wear it lower than your natural waist.) You could always keep this skirt, and go to your local Nordies and try a 2 on, even if they have it in a color you don't like, and see which fit you like better.

Well-- I am usually a size 8. I sized down to a 6 (the size chart said I should be a 10) and now I am sizing down to a 4. My six fits me similar to how your 4 fits you (perhaps a bit looser) , but on my body the skirt would look so much better at high waist. However, I know many of the forum members wear theirs lower on the hips and it flatters them.

Is the moss green really that much duller in person? It looks almost olivey! Lovely

Hi gals,

So I jumped on the Halogen seamed pencil skirt bandwagon. Mine is moss green. I did mail order (how I wish I had not now!) and have already returned it once, sizing down. Normally I am a size 6 and I thought for SURE a 4 would fit if the 6 was loose.

I am not so sure. Where is the seamed skirt supposed to sit? The size 4 sits at my low waist, right about at my navel. I'm not sure I like that - I was hoping more for my natural waist. I've included 3 photos for your inspection.

1 - this is how it fits. Hmm....
2 - Held up at my natural waist
3 - How much space there is when held up. Eek!

Please excuse the bare feet - I was in sort of a hurry (no hair/make up so I chopped off my head) and lack of base in the background. When your DH is a carpenter projects are always ongoing.

What do you think? Size down? Any thoughts how much? I suppose I could just send this back and hope the local Nordstroms still has a selection of sizes in my color....

Also in the shot is a new PB blouse. I'll have to get a better photo with appropriate undergarments. This is definitely out of my comfort zone - so flowy and girlie! I'll hope for constructive comments on that too, later.
