I guess I have three distinctive closet personalities. I've only posted a couple of pics of WIW, one going to work in jeans, sweater, loafers and the other going out in skirt, jacket, pumps. Most of the day at work I wear yoga pants and workout tops but I try not to be that casual on the commute downtown to my studio. At home I'm probably dressier than at work as I pop in and out so stay in the jeans/skinnies and nice tops. Then we have our social gatherings and they can be quite dressy at times.

I haven't seen any frump in your outfits! But I do understand your dichotomy: you have two very different audiences to dress for. I don't think there's anything wrong with it unless it bothers you. :)

I don't work outside the house, and aside from my daily walks, I don't actually leave the house every day, so if I didn't wear my clothes around the house I wouldn't wear them at all! I know this because I spent a year trying to figure out a loungewear capsule while neglecting most of my 'normal' clothes before realising it wasn't going to work. I don't have to worry about adhering to a work dress code, so I don't come home at the end of the day longing to change. Instead, if I'm not feeling well, I just put on comfortable clothes from the start! And I got over the mental worry of 'saving' my favourite clothes and not wanting to ruin them just in case of an eating/dog jumping/etc incident, by deciding it was better to wear something and love it and have it die an honourable death instead of moldering away in my closet. Although actually so far I've been able to launder out any stains and mend ripped seams, so that proved to be a false fear. The only difference between what I wear around the house and what I wear outside of it that isn't reflected in my WIW pics is that if I don't wear bras at home. If I'm wearing a clingier top that makes my bralessness obvious, I wear one outside & for both the pics to spare YLFers and preserve my modesty. Oh and when I'm cooking I wear an apron, which hasn't yet made a WIW appearance.

I'm really glad you asked this, because lately I've been trying to figure out why I neglect my indoor jackets/blazers. I've been incorporating more of them into my dog walking outfits and really enjoying it, so I was a bit mystified as to how they all became orphans. But I just realised that in my mind jackets/blazers are too constrictive for in-house all day wear, so I don't consider them an integral part of my outfit. I think I'm going to try wearing one all day soon and see if it's really uncomfortable or just a mental block of mine.

Tee Hee! I wish you could see what I was wearing right now! LOL! My home wardrobe is just blah! What I wear outside is definitely not what I wear in the house! Right now I am wearing an oversized tee (oversized because it was bought pre-weight loss!) and a stained 3/4th pant (which I had to demote to home wear because well ... I stained it!). And trust me this is the best it gets!

I want to work on my home wardrobe but somehow that is not a priority for me right now! Can't be bothered! So I think I definitely have a severe case of Multiple Personality Closet Syndrome!

I'm starting my YLF path with loungewear, inspired by this thread
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....loungewear
but hadn't thought of posting WIWs for those capsules. Hmmm. Home and at bf's are two places where I *do* want to look nice.

Greyscale's goal of replacing worn-out basics in her RATE capsule is a lot like what I have in mind for workwear, if I'm still doing YLF after my lounge capsules are complete.

Between intentionally dressing shoddily (=non-management-track) for work, and biking or taking the bus through parts of town where a polished look would be bad, I don't see much space for the fairly polished look I used to live in.

I think you mean multiple personalities, though, not schizophrenia. My older brother suffered from a form of schizophrenia until about ten years ago, so I try to avoid use of medical terms even though I know what they mean in popular language.

on the surface, yes. ithink what unites my outfits is a strong silhouette. mostly sharp, lots of asymmetry or architectural elements..most pronounced in work outfits especially " go to mtg" events. at home, i dress for the temp and have no qualms about being slobby/

Interesting question. I have two sub-styles, I think. One is a bit more polished and grownup, though still based mostly on jeans, what I post in my WIWs. The other is essentially the uniform of my social group: skinny black jeans, doc martens or other combat boots, black fitted tshirts, hoodies. It's what ex-goths wear in their 30s in San Francisco. The two looks have a lot in common, but I definitely find myself deciding which look I'm going for depending on the people and situation.

One of my goals for this year is to replace the more worn-out basics in the ex-goth uniform with new equivalents. It's good to have something flattering I can turn to when the polished look would stick out like a sore thumb. (Or when it's totally inappropriate for the setting, like working in our art workshop or riding a motorcycle around the city.)

Well, 40 plus hours a week I wear scrubs. I've stopped posting my commuting outfits, because I literally wear the same thing every day of the week. So all that's left is weekend looks and the occasional going out after work. And a huge chunk of them, especially on Sundays are just worn to the grocery store.

Given that jackets & footwear are so much part of my winter & trans seasonal look, & I can't wear either at home, there is a dichotomy in my wardrobe too. I've been working hard to close the gap as much as possible.

Of course I 've only posted one WIW, but I was wearing what I thought were nice looking clothes. At home, I might be cooking, wrangling dogs, cleaning the house, gardening, etc. I don't want to wear nice clothes for those activities. I doubt anyone would want to see them either! Old jeans, fleece, fuzzy slippers, etc.

I have a 'which coast are you on' style dichotomy, so I get it. And as for the at home wear, I have long thought that doesn't get as much air time here. It's usually the going to the office or out for book club or what not that gets posted. That's why I often try to post the not as exciting but very real bum around outfits of mine.

I love this post Deb. Sometimes I wonder about this myself but I am so obsessive that one of my focus points has been consistency throughout my whole wardrobe.

My work style, when meeting clients or attending meetings is more modern classic and my at home style I think could be described as a little more edgy.

I struglle with 'casual' so even at home i tend to be 'dressy'.

I haven't seen frump in your photos! My work and home outfits are similar, since my workplace is pretty casual. On the weekend I might dress more simply though with just a T and sweater, jeans, and no blazer topper etc.

I have been preping my pictures for my end of No Repeat November final report and a question popped into my head. Some of us post regular WIW pictures and I wondered if the style you show is the style you wear all of the time? Since my foot injury, I have been working at home so what you have seen is my normal 'what I wear all of the time at home' look. I definitely have a different look for when I go into the office and they are not the same in any way in my eye. My work wardrobe is classic but my home wardrobe is frump(?). It is like two different people live in my closet. Am I the only one like this?

ETA - I used an incorrect term for my closet disorder so it has been corrected.
