Simply put, the production of both real fur and faux fur is hard on the environment, but in different ways. </p> <p>Like every ethical and sustainable wardrobe decision, it's a compromise at best at the moment. No slam dunks, unfortunately. And there is absolutley no pleasing everyone with your decisions. People have to figure out what keeps them up at night, and what doesn't. This differs greatly between people, and there is no getting around it. As long as you are thinking about these important issues, and doing what you can to manage them ethically and sustainably <i>your way </i>- it's good.&nbsp;</p> <p>Personally, I prefer faux fur to real fur, and have been able to keep my own faux fur items looking good and for a long time. I do wish I had added a bunch more of my real and faux vintage pins to this sweater but - next time. </p> <p><b>Suz</b> - the EF sneakers and what makes them so good for me:<br /> 1. platform - love the little bit of extra height because it feels dressier somehow <br /> 2. ghillie style laceing  = interesting to me, and allows me to really pull  tight the upper to get a good fit <br /> 3. at regular price they were a little spendy , but on sale (on Nordstrom.com 's site which of course we can't order from but they were also listed on nordstromrack.com which we CAN buy from - weird) they were really reasonable !  I'm getting great quality for an excellent price <br /> 4. beautifully cushioned inside <br /> 5. real stitching around the sole  - another sign of quality (sole not just glued to the upper) <br /> 6.they were exactly what I wanted in terms of simple and sleek design with no colour or extraneous bells and whistles.   </p> <p>Like most platforms or flatforms, they are slightly shallow on me , but not so much that they aren't wearable. I don't really understand the whole foot-volume concept so can't comment on how they fit in that regard. They are also ever-so-slightly wide, which surprised me, but again not enough to be an issue. Again, being able to really tighten the upper makes them feel great to wear.  </p> <p>Jewellery wall:  haha!  It's really just an over-the-door hanger thing with a million clear pockets- that's really long and holds a lot of stuff.  I have a real issue with storage in this condo and have nowhere to store my jewellery neatly. I don't like having it out on display and this was the best solution . I stand in front of it and ponder life .    </p> <p>Also fur vs faux : I'm not a big fan of faux fur either. It's an environmental nightmare to produce and unless it's taken care of properly, can look really ratty . Have you ever seen faux fur trimmed  hoods on parkas that have been washed in a machine ? I wrote to the manufacturer before I paid for the jacket ( which I had coveted for a few years prior ) to ask about the provenance of the fur and their sourcing practices . I didn’t love the idea of real fur at all , but made the decision to go ahead based on the very thoughtful response I received to my letter . The coat is probably the most expensive garment I’ve ever bought , and it’s been worth it .
