That's disappointing. But thank you Laura. I was still considering this tee and you saved me the trouble and expense (shipping fees apply here) of ordering it.

It *was* expensive for a tee, but I imagined it would be a workhorse with all my new olive bottoms. Oh well.

I went back to try it on and just couldn't--it feels like the thinnest, cheapest cotton/poly. I had never heard of the Stateside label before, and I won't try it again without seeing it in person first.

Thanks all for the helpful feedback!

I didn't buy it Laura. The pattern, style and colour really appeal to me, and the fact that it's cotton. But it's expensive for a tee so I would have expected it to feel soft right off the bat. I would return it.
I think cotton often comes with a wash before wearing advice because of the risk of dye transferring to other clothing. My WHBM jacket came with that advice (and I took it). But washing did not affect the feel.

Deborah, this piece is definitely an outlier...pima cotton is heavenly soft.

I have no experience with Pima Cotton but I do have dress on it's way to me made from Pima Cotton, so I will be watching and learning from this thread.

If it’s Nordstrom, I think they’ll take a return even if you wash it. Do you like it otherwise?

I have no experience with that top but I would return it if it is scratchy. It already has a problem so why wash it and get stuck with it. The top is very pretty but I am sure you will find a better one.

So I ordered this tee from Nordstrom, who say it's made of "soft Supima cotton". It arrives, and the fabric is thin and scratchy. I'm about to send it back when I check the care label.

It says "wash before wearing." Is that just general good advice, or do they mean there's something nasty on this fabric that will wash out, whereupon it will feel like actual pima cotton? And what if I remove the tags and wash it, only to discover it's still scratchy and now non-returnable? Any advice?

Brooklyn -- You collected this. If you bought it, I'd be interested to hear your experience.
