The last 3 days were spent in Glasgow and that's where we did a bit of shopping.</p> <p>I had very few shopping goals which really helped me narrow it down, especially as M. Abeille was with me for all of it. The only for-sure item I wanted to come home with was a cashmere sweater. There was cashmere in all the touristy tartan shops along the Royal Mile in Edinburgh but I thought I could do better. In fact I ended up with one from Marks &amp; Spencer! I'm familiar with their range and quality, from when they had stores in Canada, and from Woolworths in South Africa. Not the cutting edge of fashion but for a Sloane-y item like a navy cashmere crewneck it fit the need.</p> <p>The other don't-miss was a visit to Clarks shoes. They get my feet, but very limited availability in Canada especially in my large size. Here I really lucked out. I came away with not one but two HEWIs: a pair of Chelsea boots (sturdy yet refined), and walkable classic ballet flats (like Angie's recent blog post).</p> <p>While prowling a high end mall I came across an ECCO store. On a whim I tried on some low profile black sneakers. I explained to M. Abeille it was for fit research, in case I ever found them on sale on line. But one pair fit so comfortably that they came home with me.</p> <p>M. Abeille was looking for a Harris tweed jacket, to replace one that perished 5-10 years ago after decades of service. We were finally successful with one that fit well and was a blue/charcoal herringbone like its predecessor.</p> <p>Last on my wish list was a visit to the charity shops of Glasgow's west end. At the first stop I found Black Watch tartan pants for £5. A HEWI rarely available in my size, my placeholder pair from Old Navy is already pilling. At the same shop, I tried on an ASOS leather moto for £2.50. It was a bit small, but meant I combed all the other shops thoroughly. </p>
