I haven’t read the other comments but the pants are worth altering. They seem to fit. I guess they’re for very straight people.

The suit looks a touch snug.

It's a lovely suit for you in theory - too bad about the fit!

There are definitely some brands whose pants definitely aren't cut for my body, so I feel your pain.

Angie - I know that suit is too small, size up is not available, this was probably some return. But even if size up is available don’t think it would work for me - don’t think their pants are cut for my body, they would probably have the same issue as black pants. Suit pants are even in this size too big at the waist, and too small everywhere else. Don’t think will keep the black pants either, fit is also too much off.

Fun to see these items on you :)

The suit looks a whole size too small, to my eye actually. The pants maybe one and half sizes too small.

Pants look like an alteration would work just find.

IMPORTANT: Remember that I had both pairs of my Scotch & Soda pants altered to fit perfectly because I’m sized out with nowhere to go in the brand.

You need to feel great in it. It looks good in photos, but I know sometimes that doesn't tell the whole picture. If anything feels snug when you move around, or you don't like the feel, then it isn't right for you. I'm sure you can find a suit that you LOVE!

Dreika, thanks. I am looking for burgundy suit to replace my Boden, but this is not the one.
Kathie - not sure about the button. Suit feels like painted on, no drape at all. Pants are tight around knees too.

I really like the suit on you. Could you move the button just a bit, so that it doesn't pull? Otherwise, the fit of the jacket looks great. It's hard for me to see the (suit) pants. What are your concerns about fit with those?

You look fantastic In the suit! Maybe it’s just the photos, but it looks good to me. For years I was trying to get this snug fit on pants and just couldn’t - everything would be just slightly bigger and this would drive me crazy. So I might be biased but I like the suit. The colors also suit you nicely.

I've tried on a few pieces, in finds, and have found the fits to be a bit variable. The pink chore jacket (I tried the XS and S and bought the S) is slightly snug through the shoulders/back yoke. I think it fit great when I first tried it on, so it may have shrunk in the wash just a smidge. I'm not letting that hold me back from wearing it, because I love it. The navy short-sleeve shirt is a relaxed fit, so fit great in a S. By contrast, the striped, wrapped blouse was huge in the S, so went back. I didn't love it enough to try an XS. I tried the pink jacket in a M, and it was too large- not a surprise, since a S has generally fit. The print is super fun, so I might stalk a S on Nordstrom's, and I'll be paying very close attention to shoulder fit. I have really liked the fabrics- interesting prints and textures, so if I find other pieces that I like, I would certainly have them altered. If you like the pants, you could always take them to a tailor to see if altering that much would be an option.

Not an issue for you, but as someone size 14ish and sometimes sized out by certain Euro brands like Massimo Dutti, I was not impressed by my one trip to a Scotch and Soda store. I still have no idea if their XL or L are a possibility for me, because they literally had one item in each of those sizes in store (it’s a sparsely stocked store, so I was able to peruse the racks for size easily).
Even when I was more of a M/L, I learned to avoid stores that don’t stock size L. The message is clear.

Looks like an alteration could work for you, but you’d have to really be sold on them.

I tried some S&S pants in NYC and they are close to working on me, but not quite the fit I was after (I was looking for not so fitted on the thighs but that’s always a tall order for me). Sizing up meant a baggy crotch. Second time I’ve had that issue trying S&S — I think they cut a little too straight for me.

That is quite a bit too big isn't it! Interesting about fits. They are very cute though and it might not be too bad to take that bit in. I am not familiar with that brand, except for what I have read here.

I was intrigued by Scotch and Soda for long time, but never had a chance to try anything from them. And then after Angie posted about her beautiful Scotch and Soda suit, and black pants with side stripe, I checked them again on Zalando. And coincidentally both Angie’s pants and suit were there on deep discount, only one item in one size available. Well, curiosity got to me. Suit was available in size S, and pants in M and I ordered both. Everything arrived today, and I am kind of confused with their fit. Suit is too small, but pants are too big. But I doubt it will work for me even in different sizes. Because pants are not too big everywhere, and suit is also not too small everywhere. Usually things fit me off the rack, but evidently not S&S. They will work for me only in bigger size and then with some alternations. Suit is not available in bigger size, so this option is out. Pants though - what do you think? Should I just return and forget about Scotch and Soda? But it was interesting experiment, to see how things work differently for different bodies. I think Angie also mentioned alternations, but not sure if she had the same issues.
Will take more pictures later when I get home.

ETA - added suit photos. I think my current issue is that I am somewhat between sizes. Everything is either too big or tad too snug. Sigh!
