Boy both colors are lovely, tough choice. I will vote yellow as I like bright colors in cooler, darker months.

Marsh,
You captured my sentiments, perfectly! I saw the red one in the store and loved it--picturing it to be the perfect thing to add some pizazz to my black winter coat and other neutral ensembles. But then I stumbled across the white and yellow one and I had the same reaction. Also, I've been experiencing a love affair with citron yellow for some time now but have yet to really incorporate it into my wardrobe.
Anyway, I suppose I will wait and see how both look on! Thanks for the moral support!

What a great surprise to get that credit Auburn!! I love the scarf in both colors. I tend to wear a lot of black and red, so I immediately liked the 1st one, but when I saw the second one, it stopped me in my tracks. The colors just grabbed my attention more and I love the pop of red in it! They both look versatile so I guess it just depends on the colors in your wardrobe. How's that for not being much help??

How lucky were you. It was meant to be.
I love the red one. I can imagine outfits with the other one but the red is no doubt my favourite.

They are both gorgeous, but the colors would work very differently. My gut says the red will be more versatile, but you will have to start throwing them on with different outfits to see.

Thanks ladies--and thank you for reading my novel!
I tend to get a little verbose on YLF, I've noticed (although this story was a detailed one).

Awesome scarf! Just for kicks, I clicked on your link and put the scarf in a shopping cart. No one offered me a $197 credit. So it must have been a real credit you've had sitting around. Lucky girl!

Last month I had a girlfriend visiting and we went into a local boutique and promptly both fell in love with the same scarf--big, thin, soft and a super cool pattern featuring reds and blacks in a sort of loosely interpreted animal print. But the price was $210 which is WAY beyond what I'd normally pay for a scarf so we both left it behind.
It's been in the back of my mind ever since and after ordering 2 winter coats, and having neither work out, I decided to just bite the bullet and get it (as part of the "buy fewer but higher quality things" school of thought that some on the forum espouse).
I was in the area and dropped by the store last night and the woman knew what I was talking about but said it was gone. She did, however, give me the brand name (We Are Owls) so I could try to hunt for it myself.
I immediately got home and started googling. Turns out it's a small little company with very limited distribution. I found a few but not the color/pattern I had seen and was about to give up the ghost when I saw a link to shopbop.com (one of my favorite online retailers) and, lo and behold, they had the EXACT scarf I wanted (pic below--is that the unhappiest model ever??!?!?). Alas, it was still $210 but I decided to forge on. So imagine my delight when, in checking out, the site asked if I wanted to apply my "gift certificate in the amount of $197.50" to my purchase!
I have NO idea where this amount came from. I'm not sure if it's an old credit or a promotional thing or what. I've received no emails and had no idea it existed! So I'm getting my scarf for $13 and couldn't be happier!

However, then I got a bit scarf happy. I found a second one in a similar pattern but different colors and it was 40% off (from a different site) so I ordered it as well, thinking I'd try on both in person and keep one, depending on which I'd use more. I sort of thought the lighter version would be perfect for dressing up a basic white tee and jeans (one of my favorite combos).
What say you, forum? Do you think one of these is infinitely more wearable than the other?
