I have so many scarves that I use several storage ideas. First I use clear plastic shoe boxes labled by color to store those that aren't in current use. If I do want one, it's quick to pull out the correct box.
Then I use the rolled in a drawer storage for most seasonal scarves.
some of the bulkier or more prone to wrinkle are hung on one of those velvetized hangers for 4 or 5 pairs of pants in the closet.
Finally, the scarves worn with winter coats are hung with the coats in a hall coat closet, easy to grab when needed. I change out the drawer and hanging scarves in the clothing closet each season and clean and store woolen scarves for the summer.

Amazing Nancy! I looked at swing racks (made for pants) and thought I would not be disciplined enough to fold the scarves on the racks.
Your closet org is perfection!

Ya. Ok. This weekend I went to IKEA and bought a sofa table with a shelf for $59. I then went on a mad hunt for 5" tall bins to put on the little shelf, in which I've put all my scarves, hats, and gloves. I've got baskets under the table for shoes. No doubt I will want to put storage stuff on top of the table too.

I was storing my scarves and hats in bins on top of clothing shelves. But that's too high up for things I reach for everyday. Thus the whole sofa table thing.

...I've given up on the idea of decor and am now just going for "put away." I should really hire someone to throw out all my stuff and decorate my teeny tiny apartment. I should get more appropriate furniture for such a small place. On the other hand, they've raised my rent and I expect I shall not live in this silly-size apartment forever. But now I digress...

So many great ideas - thank you all for your suggestions. Suz - I should probably check the archives before posting! I am gravitating towards the "least work" suggestion - the towel bar may be it for me!

Finding a new way to organize my scarves was one of my recent projects. I wanted them in the closet with the rest of my clothes so a drawer in my dresser wouldn't work.

First I had a hanger with multiple arms and I folded 2or3 on each arm. But I couldn't see all of them at once and it was a nuisance to re-hang them.

Then I tried the shower rings on a hanger but they all slid to one end and it was too heavy.

Finally, I got this at container store:

http://www.containerstore.com/.....+organizer

Perfect! I stack 2 in each section. They are easy to see and grab and easy to put back.

I also have a drawer dedicated to my scarves:) It's quite deep, and I roll my scarves and place them one in front of the other so i can see them all. Works well if I am disciplined to roll them and put them back properly when I take them off:)

I am clearly an amateur. I have a drawer dedicated to them, using shoe boxes as dividers. The scarves are folded and stacked according to shape. I can't see them all at once, unfortunately, but I have a decent idea of what I've got, so it's not too big a problem. Every now and then I check to see what's at the bottom of each pile, just to refresh my memory on the seldom-worn ones. And that's about it.

I wouldn't have the discipline to roll them, or even feed them through a hole :-(

I have an over-the-door set of hooks along the lines of this

http://www.amazon.com/OVER-DOO.....door+hooks

(although mine are two staggered rows of hooks). I hang most of my long rectangular scarves there (probably 10-12)

I think they get some wrinkles set in where they go over the hook and that exact spot is often front and center when I wear them So, my current favorite three are in fluffy little piles on top of plastic bins of neatly folded (and ignored) scarves.

I like Manders towel bar approach. . . and need to think about that. . .

I saw on Pinterest someone used one of those plastic hanging shoe caddies that go on a door. Seems better to me than the hanging loop kind, because with those, the scarves can still overlap and get confusing. Something to think about if you tend to get dressed before getting caffeinated!

Hello lovely YLFers!
The whole house is in chaos - kitchen is undergoing a facelift, we have a lovely couple in painting the cupboard exteriors. Gifts to be wrapped and shipped are strewn here and there - christmas decorations are still in boxes ...arrrgggh
I'd like to gain control of a small piece of real estate - my closet! Anyone have some good tips on how to organize scarves so that they can be seen and easily accessed?
Thanks everyone!
