I will also go and bump a post that I did to recap all responses. This might be useful and simply fun to see how the responses netted out.

Marie: I look forward to seeing your theme and your growth.

bbgestier: I also follow a very strict colour palette -- which is very similar to yours. And it is an interesting exercise to reflect back and think -- what was wearing? I'd love to know if you have any other strict rules regarding shoes/boots, jewelry, silhouette, etc.

quiet girl: It seems like a lot of folks are in transition. Seems like you are adding some great new piece (very nice DH). Looking forward to seeing how your style evolves. I know what it feels like when you just must pass on items that you just can't face anymore. Hope you can find a good home for your J. Crew cardigans!

Glad you are enjoying your closet days.

Janet: Consistent execution in daily outfits does seem to be a common theme. And I can absolutely relate to your comment. "I still sometimes make mistakes of trying things that suit me in theory, but I end up just not reaching for them, so there is a disconnect somewhere." But perhaps, as you said, you might just have a fab closet.

I'd have to say around an 8, but as others have mentioned, that understanding doesn't always come through in the execution of daily outfits. I think I have a pretty good grasp on what suits me, and of course I know what I like! However, I still sometimes make mistakes of trying things that suit me in theory, but I end up just not reaching for them, so there is a disconnect somewhere. Or maybe I just have too many fab things in my closet.

I don't think I'd ever give myself a 10. I feel like the more I learn, the more there is to learn. And I may have times when I'm paying less attention and am more complacent about style, but I don't ever want to get *too* complacent. That's how a lot of women ended up wearing helmet hair from the 60s into the 80s, and mom jeans before they came back "in."

Not very well. I know what fits and I know the colors that work best for me. Beyond that, I am in transition, having been here for less than a year. I was In a style rut with cardigan sweaters and pencil skirts. This year marked the acquisition of BF jeans, booties, and leather motojacket (a gift from my DH). I am also tossing most of my cardigans from JCrew LOL!

We are all in transition, really. Fashions change over time... even Angie has honed her style since she began her blog.

I can say, I am enjoying my closet these days.

I would say a 9. I follow a very strict colour palette (black, white, grey, navy, tan) and believe less is more. This personal style rule of mine has minimised fashion disasters for me and has made me look back on myself as a 15-19 year old and wonder, firstly what I was thinking, and secondly what I was wearing?

What Torontogirl said! I know what I like, but changes of season and fluctuations in body shape sometimes throw me off. I sit up and pay attention when Angie and others write about what people with a long neck can wear, for example. The concept of bookending has been an epiphany, and now that I'm aware of it, it's as simple as gravity. I think I will save a lot of time and energy as I gain a better understanding of what works and why.

This is a wonderful question and it shows how much I have grown and evolved.
When I first came to YLF I might have categorized myself as a 2-3 (no plan in place and bending to very trend that came my way).

Today I confidently categorize myself as either a 8-9. I learned a lot, and more importantly, I implemented what I learned. It has been a fun learning experience and because I make so many fewer mistakes I have now given myself permission to buy things that were previously out of my price range. It seems to be a win-win for me.

In knowing what is my style, I'm an 8. I'm usually good at recognizing it, but I do get pleasantly surprised once in a while. My trouble came, at least until recently, with knowing what I don't like. Especially when it comes in a good color for me and fits really well.

Let's see....I love my closet, can pull together appropriate outfits for any occasion that make me feel fab, know what colors, patterns, contrasts, silhouettes and types of items make me happy, know what is figure flattering (although I don't always care), wear all of my wardrobe, and am able to combine things in lots of different ways as well as utilize several FFBOs. I try trends that appeal to me but don't jump on every new thing that comes out. From that, I'd give myself at least an 8. I'd like to be able to sum up my style with a cute moniker, but I haven't been able to do that yet. I can describe it in a few words or sentences, but that's not as fun.

Great question -- I am about a 7.5 - 8. I love visually interesting pieces but I know the range of styles that appeal to me most and that's where I live. It took a LOT of focus and energy but I am happy with knowing the difference between what I think is cute for me and what I think is cute and general.

I'd say around about 6/7. I know what I like, I think I know what suits me and I genuinely love the contents of my closet.

It's all complicated by a diversity of aesthetics, personae, preferences and implementations. In other words, I like a lot of things but I need to resist the temptation to wear them all at once.

So no, I don't fully understand my style. But isn't all the fun in the finding out?

There are only two rules here:

1. Have fun with fashion.

2. Wear the heck out of your beautiful clothes! :)

I would put myself on a 7. Meaning I know (pretty much) what suits me, I know what works for my lifestyle, and I have a highly functional closet of clothes that give me great satisfaction. I even have one of those fun monikers, thanks to Angie: Urban Prince. And I like it! But I still want to make some refinements to my style and I'm not entirely sure how to do that.

My OWN style? I'm a total flunk out. I totally need Angie and YLF. It's not funny how one (me) can be so blind about oneself.

If it means knowing what I like to wear, I'm at a 10. If it means knowing how to describe it to another person, I'm probably a 4. If it means consistently sporting a certain look, I'd say a 5 or 6. Looking at that, I'd say I'm a 6.5. Which, given I'm 65, seems eerily right.

Great question - I will give myself a 5 - because I know what looks good on me when it comes to silhouettes - yet I have no style descriptor words and could not explain overall aesthetic.

I think that I find the term "personal style" somewhat intimidating. I very much know what I like- and even more what I don't like- to wear. But does that translate to personal style?

I understand my personal style very well. Probably an 8. I can always improve. Like CocoLion I live very casually and don't dress up much. The days when I wore my personal style are gone so it is a fun exercise for me to read about fashion now. Big sigh.

If you'd asked me three days ago, I would have said a 2 -- I thought I knew what I liked, but didn't have the words to express it nor the skills to make what I liked work in my life.

I spent the last 2 days working through the 14-week "course" on Wardrobe Architect, and so I'd now say I'm a 5. I have a very clear idea of what I like, what works when in my life, what my style goals are, and how to proceed going forward. Where I fall short is in the actuality. I'm not too clear on what really looks good on me, and if I can take my style from theoretical to reality.

I think I'm a 5/6. I am fairly consistent in what I choose, but I cannot say I always understand why I make those choices.

With huge thanks to Angie & YL Fabbers I feel I hover around 9 now. I'm REALLY happy with my style on a daily basis now that I've let go of needing to try lots of different looks.

There are two reasons I don't make it to 10; one is that I have trouble finding some of the clothing I need to pull my looks together -I live in a town with limited shopping for the kinds of clothes I like & our summers can seem to go on forever with 100++ temps. so I don't get to wear my favourite - pants jackets/coats & footwear for a quarter of the year.

I barely understand style, let alone my style, lol. Honestly, I have learned quite a bit since joining YLF, but there's a difference between what I've learned and what I've put into practice. I'm working on both. I'd say I'm smack in the middle at about a 5.
