Thanks Ladies! I guess I'll pick up the waterproofing spray at Nordies (like a I need an excuse to get there during the NAS ;)) and here's to hoping for another mild dry winter in the Northeast!

What a pretty color of boot! I have a few pairs of boots but none in a lighter color like this. I haven't put anything on mine but probably should.

How lovely to see you again, Isabella. And those are lovely boots! I also use a waterproof spray on all my boots, and occasionally polish the lighter-coloured ones with a transparent leather polish.

I try to keep from wearing my lighter boots in wet weather. I also spray them with waterproof spray from time to time just in case I get caught in the rain with them (which has happened). I use the waterproofing spray by Rockport and that seems to work without staining the light color leather.

As above I use waterproof them and I don't wear mine in the wet weather. I tend to treat them with quite a bit of TLC.

Yes, always a leather treatment before first wearing. Cleaning with saddle soap, and whatever conditioner the manufacturer recommends.

Also, don't mean to steal your boots Isabella, but I may have to get myself a pair of those. And Rae, you need to seriously consider them too. Gorgeous flat boots for sure.

I spray with a waterproofer and use saddlesoap if there is an issue (getting caught in a slushy puddle or potential salt stains) I spray everything at the beginning of the season and wipe down leather after wear outside (lots of brands of sprays - my current one is from the Rack Bass brand I think). I spray (keep it in my shoe closet) before I wear each time to be sure it has protection. For leather I also like the foam buffers I get at Clarks store to give a little shine.

Following in Angie's footsteps, I've been spraying all my leathers with waterproofer, and it's worked perfectly so far, even on my nude boots after tromping through wet grass. I use Wilson's Leather brand, but I have heard good things about the one sold at Nordies, too. I think the latter is what Angie said she uses.

Hello All :)
Have been MIA for a long while, hit some 'bumps in the road' in our life and was busy strenghtening them out.... Anyways, popping back with a question. I know it's still summer (and a hot one to boot, no pun intended) but I do have a question about lighter colored boots, the upkeep exactly. I have steered away from lighter colored boots (caramel or cognac) as in the past my pair of caramel boots got ruined in the rain. The ark marks were impossible to remove. But I never did anything to condition them, so that might contribute ( that was really YEARS) ago. Now, I got a pair in Whiskey color and would love to keep them looking spiffy as long as possible. I understand I should keep them for drier days, but that's not a problem, I have 3 pairs of other boots so they're always in rotation anyways.. I know a lot of you fashionable Ladies have footwear in lighter colors, how do you keep them looking nice and new? Here are the boots in question:
