San- I also wanted to say I have a feeling we like the same colors. I love that wine/berry/purple family, and am starting to wear greens, like teal, too! Do you have very fair skin?

San - love that sweater. What a great color! You have such a cute figure!

I tried mineral makeup and it didn't work for me. My skin is getting drier, but I also sometimes break out (Still! At this age!) I've switched to a basic non-comedogenic oil-free foundation from Neutrogena.

Stilla does a superb cream blush. It’s my favourite if you’re interested.

Yes the cozyness was especially appreciated because Sunday when I wore the sweater we had a surprise snow storm over here on the Kitsap Penninsula. We got about 4" in a couple of hours. I had to have my husband save me off the slippery street because he has 4 wheel drive. We left my car at the park and ride until yesterday when the snow all melted away. Crazy weather!
I returned the Burberry coat a while ago. The color was so perfect but the fit was off, darn it.

I use and love mineral makeup. I get mine from Everyday Minerals (everydayminerals.com) which is an awesome all-natural woman-owned business. They will send you a sample kit of 4 foundation powders of your choice for free. They have about a zillion shades and finishes of eye shadow, blush, finishing powder, bronzer etc. too. The price is unbeatable. I like the Natural Reflections finishing powders because they give sun protection. I often wear just that without any other base.

Thanks ladies for all the help and feedback.
Kellygirl, I hope you love your freckles. Freckles are so good and earthy, I love them. I know my niece who has them always worries about covering them up. When I see pictures of models in magazines with freckles I think they are beautiful and sunkissed.
Ana, I did buy the Nars Orgasm in the convertible lip and cheek color after reading about it on your post. I think the color of it is beautiful but in my closeup magnifying mirror it looks like it has glitter in it which I can't stand. You know how glitter ends up everywhere.
I feel like I should try a tinted moisturizer. I have in my stash right now the Lancome Absolute Replenishing Cream makeup, and the Clarins True Radiance Foundation Light Reflecting Oil Free foundation. The latter one I feel makes me look ghostly and the first one seems a bit heavy, but these are both good products, maybe I should mix them.
I have always used powder blush but lately it seems to look fake so I wanted to try a cream blush. I bought one from MAC called BRIT WIT, I'm not crazy about the cold color. The Nars is a warmer color, but those darn glitters.

Oh, about cream blush--I've tried Nars convertible lip and cheek color in Orgasm, and it's nice. It's a bit too shiny on me, so I use the powder instead, but I think it might be great for you, especially if you suffer from dry skin.

Beautiful sweater San! You look great!

I tried a few different mineral foundations. I had never worn foundation prior, so I don't have anything to compare. The first one I tried was by Elizabeth Grady. I liked it at first. But then I noticed my skin was looking awfully flaky. I've stopped using foundation all together now. I have also switched over to a cream blush. My skin is just so freaking dry. Oh, I have switched to a tinted moisurizer though. That definitely seems to help. And I load on night cream at night. I pay special attention to my nose--around my nostrils. That is where I tend to get flaky.

I have do admit that mineral makeup just doesn't work for me at all - it makes me look all ashy and chalky - maybe beacuse I am very pale. I use Lancome's Color Ideal foundation and really like it.

Beautiful sweater, San. I've started wearing a mineral powder (Mary Kay) over sunblock with great success and no problems showing wrinkles. This product is matte which I like because the sun block leaves a shiny finish. In the past any powder has made my face break out, but I've had no breakouts with this. It covers enough that I don't wear a foundation for daytime.

Terrific sweater and such a delicious color, too! I love the cowl neckline on you and you're absolutely right--the length is perfect. I managed a couple Nordstrom sweaters in the after Christmas sale too--a cardigan and a vest-ish cardi.

I used MAC (studio fix, I think) for years because it was the only foundation that really seemed to cover my freckles. Rrecently, I switched to Bare Minerals. Bare Min is a lighter coverage so it took a bit of getting used to for me. I'm not sure that it is the greatest foundation for me but it is very natural (I'm getting used to seeing my freckles.) I've found that using the base (Prime Time) helps minimize the fine lines around my eyes and mouth (but that adds another $20 to the cost of the foundation for me.) If you haven't tried the base--you could always ask for a sample. Good luck!

Hi San - I love your new sweater - great color! I use Jane Iredale's mineral makeup (have for several years) and I love it. It's a compact powder formulation - not loose. It smoothes out my skin and makes it look wonderful.

Like Ana, I wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, but the regular version, not the oil-free. It's light, and then I put a bit of loose translucent powder over it in case it's a bit shiny. I'll be interested to see what people have to say about mineral make-up!

Hi San! When I opened the photo of the sweater, I really liked it, and I thought that it looks very much to be your style. What a great purchase!

My mom has worn mineral makeup, and she likes it, but she switched from Bare Minerals to the Revlon mineral makeup because the Bare Minerals has a sort of shimmery highlight in it that she thought made her look a bit crepey. The Revlon is matte though. I used to wear it, and liked it a lot. I switched to a tinted moisturizer--Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturizer, because I need a multi-tasking foundation that is also light. I like it, and the coverage is surprisingly good for a moisturizer/foundation combination, but it doesn't feel heavy to me.

Giorgio Armani foundation is kind of exclusive. I've gotten it at Saks, some Nordys carries it, and GA has their own stores. I don't think I've ever seen anywhere else. It's kind of expensive but I know that Saks is pretty generous with samples if you wanted to try it first. As for Nars, I haven't tried the cream blush. I use their balanced foundation, powder blush, and the powder bronzer.

Here is one of my after Christmas sale purchases, a Classiques entier merino wool sweater, discounted from $148.00 down to $78.90.
I loved wearing this sweater because it is so soft and the cowl neck kept the back of my neck cozy all day. I felt totally me in this sweater. I love the color and the weight of the knit, and also the length, so I was pleased with my purchase.
I also bought a couple of other great things I will have to get photos of with my new Christmas camera. One is a berry colored jacket with a tie at the waist and also a carmel colored boyfriend type sweater with a tie waist.
I went to Sephora for the first time and am trying the mineral makeup. I don't know yet if it is a good choice for aging skin. I'm on the fence about it and will try it for a week. Do any of you have an opinion on mineral foundation on wrinkles?
