A very similar profile. But beware, it won't be as stable and you're in danger of turning an ankle.  I tried so many flat mules and slides this year but could not find any that stayed on my feet. I did eventually find a slide with a 1.5 inch heel that worked. I love the idea of a trend item like the perforated booties, but I really hesitate to call them an alternative to your sandal booties, which are much more sandally. I think 1 pair of block heels with a simple ankle strap and over the top strap would be something with longevity that also is on-trend. (I know you have a black pair like this. Perhaps duplicate in cognac.) I think espadrilles-style wedges are still trendy and chic. Coming back to the perforated booties: these might work well in your climate, actually. Ditto mules. So maybe one trend and one classic item? I can see myself having a good look at them - this is the level of formality I need for my current hole.   I see some online browsing ahead!! I am not a fussy fit in footwear - a standard 40 or 9 fits well in a standard width.  I am more nervous about clothing online as I have NZ10-14 sizes in my closet and M-XL as well.  I am not a NZ10 and I am not a NZXL so this shows how erratic sizing can be. Stylefan and Jane - I did not know Birkenstocks did a wedge!!  I do like them.  If I decide to get two pairs they are a contender for sure (if I only get one they are a bit casual). JenniNZ - wow Styletread has a great range.  I will definitely take a good look - lots of possibilities.  I often buy from Merchant too - their shoes seem to mostly work well for me. Brooklyn - ballet inspiration sounds fun!!  I still like sandal booties too - and will likely wear mine a bit longer - but they are showing wear.  I wish they weren't!!  Mules are the trendy option and a possibility - I do like showing my toes though (my heels are bony and not as pretty).  I need to decide if I can get two pairs:) Bijou - those are gorgeous and kind of what I imagined- simple, classic and modern.  I will see if they will be stocked here!! Fashintern- thanks - the Seychelles are a style I have struggled with in the past, the back slips on my heels.  Visually I like them but they don't work.  I would have said in the past that sandal boots were a mad idea until I owned them.  I would not wear them here June-August but the rest of the year they work temperature wise - our climate is very even all year with winter yesterday being 14 and 24 being common in summer.  We rarely have under 10 or over 27. Joy - thanks for those.  I do like the Sole Society ones in particular.  The Ankle Cuff ones are great - I also like the perforated peep toes and the perforated loafers!! Jenn- I am not worried about being cutting edge - as I am not:)  Part of me wants to duplicate the pair that are fading but part of me thinks that here in NZ I was ahead of the game when I got them, and duplicating will just not feel the same!!  I need something that fills the same function though - smart casual, cognac and works with jeans and midi length that I can wear all day and walk 2-3 km in.   I am sorted for shorts, and I am sorted for dressy.   Suntiger - wedges are super useful aren't they!!  We often attend functions where there is walking on the grass, or BBQ outside... Sandals and shoes are my weakness and I will compromise on other areas to get them!!  I could look at <ul> <li>A peeptoe heeled mule and a perforated loafer/oxford</li> <li>A flat loafer mule and a birkenstock wedge</li> <li>A classic heeled sandal like the Paul Greens</li> </ul> Any of these would meet all my needs.... At the back of my mind we are off to Italy in Spring so I need some comfortable smart sandals for dining out or casual city excursions....I always take plenty of shoes and fewer clothing (and accept I will wash clothing on holidays) - this works best for me. Personally I am a fan of sandal / booties, but given they are been around for a few summers, they are not looking particularly fashion forward. That said, I will still be wearing mine! I am hoping that my local Paul Green retailer is getting this sandal and it fits my narrow and fussy feet - it is a basic sandal, but I am drawn to the simplicity of style and natural leather colour. Personally I am not over sandal boots and possibly never will be I love a high shaft or high vamp. For this summer, I personally like the idea of something ballet inspired (Criss-cross ankle straps and either flat or with a low heel). Or a flat sandal with lots of Criss cross straps in the vamp. They have such a huge range and very good sales. Also Merchant 1948 ( previously Overland) has 40 % off their sale prices right now. I am sure both will have lots of tan/cognac. I can't help you with styles really as I don't wear sandal booties myself, I think I find them a bit chunky for summer for me even though I wear booties in winter all.the.time. And I don't wear wedges either. Will perforated Oxfords be cool enough? Mules could be interesting. I am musing on a pair from Styletread for $55 NZ. Probably don't have enough to wear with them though as they are floral. My floral weakness is apparent looking at my wish list! I suspect you don't have the same weakness. I wore these sandals often - with jeans  - with midi skirts  - with cropped pants  - with shorter dresses and midi dresses They straddled the smart casual line well for me - and I liked the heels - sturdy but comfortable. My other summer sandals are - tan flat sandals (comfy but very casual) - cream low wedges (good for smart dressy but not much walking) - black chunky heel (too high for every day) - pewter slides  I also have ( all are 2 plus years old and quite wearable but not pristine new) - tan pointy flats  - gold ballet flats - silver loafers - white leather sneakers    I also have evening sandals and athletic options. My criteria: <ul> <li>I am wanting to add one or two pairs only to replace these sandals.</li> <li>I would like tan or cognac to match a new second hand bag as a first priority.</li> <li>I prefer plainer sandals and shoes without too many bells and whistles. </li> <li>My feet are not terribly fussy - straps that cut in are my main issue</li> <li>I do like a small heel especially for midi's - 1-2.5 inches</li> <li>My feet get really hot in summer - so covered shoes are not great unless I can wear socks.  </li> <li>I like my footwear to have longevity - I mostly walk in trainers - but I might walk to the shops occasionally in these sandals.</li> </ul> Questions: 1) Is the sandal boot waning - I would still wear it - but would I buy it? 2) A wedge is super comfortable and practical but again is it a bit dated? 3) Perforated Oxfords? 4) Mules?  I think this would only be if I get two pairs.
