I have had this happen and also made sure the source was obvious. Somehow, it doesn't happen in stores and I notice it after purchase. And my feet usually demand some cushioning. No advice, just empathy.

What Brooklyn said. And also what Lisa P said. I am the same - I sometimes push back on a chair, it makes an obnoxious sound, so I immediately do it again !

Busted out laughing at Lisa Ps comment (at the office...)!
I normally don't wear ankle straps-just mules-and flap flap down the hall. And clomp clomp down the steps!

You try putting some talc inside the shoe or an inner sole. That has worked for me. Like Janet I find it goes away eventually with wear.

I’ve had this happen before too — an argument against too much cushioning in a shoe! In my experience it has usually worked itself out after a couple of wears. Or it’s so bad when trying on that it’s a sign that the shoes are not for me!

It has happened to me mostly with sneakers. I can’t get rid of them fast enough. Just Say No to noisy footwear.
With the sandals ask to try on other pairs like it in your size. My DSIL used to ask that all the boxes of the shoe she liked be brought out and try on every one. Then she would pick the best fit for each foot. Maybe there are some that don’t make the noise. An air pocket forms or is present in the sole. The air is forced out as you take a step.

Does anyone else have this problem with sandals? When trying on most any sandal with an ankle strap, my feet tend to trap air between my foot and the shoe. Therefore with each step as air passes it sounds as though I'm stepping on a whoopee cushion! How horribly embarrassing when folks don't realize it's my shoe! I really prefer an ankle strap for more stability, but I've had to pass on some really cute sandals this spring as this is happening more and more.

Anyone know how to help with this?
