Hmm, then heels are probably out. (I know they would be for me if I worked in shipping!) I wonder if a sandal with thin straps (like the straps on the one I posted) but with a flat sole would be OK. Maybe a gladiator-type sandal? In general, I associate thinner straps with a more professional look when it comes to sandals. I also would veer toward buckles rather than velcro. But this may be subjective!

Hi Gigi,
Thanks for the suggestion of the caged sandal. I wasn't sure if more straps was OK.

Hi Danskogirl,
San Diego, we are import/export so no one but employees are in the office, and a family business. I do some physical work like shipping also so I need to be able to walk and lift OK which I found limits my choices. Other employees are newer than I and I have seen them and the owners wear sandals and converse before. The dress code says smart casual.

What part of California are you in, FigTree? What type of industry?

Those would be fine in my LA social services office. A key is to have well tended feet--moisturized heels and toes, well-groomed cuticles and toenails. Also, as danskogirl says, depending on what others wear.

Do you like to wear heels? I have these and think these would be appropriate. They are comfortable for a heel.

Hello,

I live in California and work in a casual office with no customers. It gets hot as we're upstairs to wear closed leather shoes. Do you think these Clarks Sarasota sandals would be work appropriate or too open toed? I have them in the brown crocodile.

http://www.amazon.com/Clarks-W.....&qid=

Thanks!
