While the rest of my body seems to have gotten bigger, it almost seems my feet have shrunk — or at least my heels! Way too many styles are loose in the heel. This really rules out a lot of flats and slip-on styles, and pushes me towards sandals in slide styles or certain kinds of ankle straps. But my last sandal search revealed that a lot of the styles that appealed to me are cut too roomy across the top of the foot, and you can’t fudge the fit of sandals with socks and insoles, the way I can with my boots. That lightbulb went on for me after striking out with several pairs of Fly London sandals, which I thought would work because I have a pair of Fly London boots! Most of my collection is several years old, and I let go of several old pairs last year. I’m thinking I could use one or two refreshers. Today I was out and about and I tried on a few Franco Sarto styles that were available. In the past their fits have worked well for me, and the new styles seem current without being overly trendy or too tricky. </p> <p>I fell in love with this pair — I immediately thought of how that spark of cobalt could complement my cobalt backpack handbag with a simple black dress or other neutral outfit. But the fit is just shy of right for me — the elastic back is a little loose on the heel, and sizing down made the shoe too short for my foot. The reptile print is a little warmer in person than this photo, which seems to have blue in it, but I don’t mind because it’s neutral and low-contrast with my skin tone. The wrap at the ankle feels secure and is a nice change of pace from the several flip-flop/slide styles I already have. The comfort is good too — there is some padding in the footbed, which is nice.
