Thanks to all for support and suggestions. I’ve been searching for possible styles. Currently about to order a bunch of cheap pairs from JCPenney, who knows?

Also playing solitaire and napping - DH has Covid and I probably do, too.

Yes to adding extra holes to straps- and you can have the extra bit trimmed off. I often have that problem.

I have EXACTLY the same issue! Low volume feet that I think of as flat as a pancake across the front part of the foot. But NOT narrow, at least not across the ball of my foot. Narrow shoes squeeze my feet in that spot in an uncomfortable way. Do try narrow widths, maybe they will work for you.

I stick to sandals that have adjustable toe straps, almost always Velcro, while acknowledging the "bunch of extra strap" issue mentioned by SarahD8. It severely limits the style options of what I can consider buying but so be it. Here are the ones that I have currently. Taos is a go-to for me because in addition to adjustable toe straps they also have the thick sole cushioning I need. Aetrex works well too, I have one pair of Naots, but honestly the shape of the sole is a little too narrow across the ball of the foot, which the adjustable strap does not "fix" although they feel a little better as I wear them. That brand might work for you without the adjustability (maybe for me too, I haven't tried other styles)

Once in a while I find a non-adjustable one that works but I've stopped spending much time looking for them. The bzees and clarks ones are current examples of that, but not they style you are looking for. I tried another lucky pair last year (the yellow ones) that I didn't end up keeping because the soles were too stiff, but they worked too as far as snugness across the toe area.

I tend to stick with the same brands.

Don't hesitate to add extra holes in a straps to get the fit that you need. You may need to buy a device to do this easlily.

Good point, Sarah. I don't have truly narrow or low volume feet (just medium, really) so that has only happened to me a few times. I would imagine it would be a bigger problem on brands that tend to fit wide.

So that's the other trick. Look for narrow widths...but also look for brands that fit narrow in general and see what they offer for sandals, maybe. And yes, elasticized straps!

My challenge as well with narrow, low volume feet. Definitely look for sandals that come in narrow, and for sandals with adjustable straps.

A note re Birkenstocks: Their Narrow fits a size A-B, so not a true narrow. With some styles, like Gizeh, I've been able to get around this by sizing down a full size.

Good luck!!

birkenstock does sandals for narrow feet - some of them in silver too. Could that work?

A note of caution on Velcro sandals: I often find that I have to pull the strap over so far that there is a bunch of extra strap left hanging with nothing to grip on to...like the dangling end of a too-big belt. It sometimes bugs me because the edges tend to curl up over time and it doesn't look very polished (other times I just settle...). So Velcro *can* be good but it's not a panacea.

Another option: what about sandals with straps made of elastic/webbing? The ivory sandals I bought last year are very snug on my low volume feet -- but comfortable because they stretch as needed.

You may need to try a style that allows you to tighten all the straps. They are out there...though often the way they work is with velcro, which a lot of people don't like. They don't necessarily have to look like a sport sandal, though -- and they won't, if your feet are lower volume, because you will likely have them tightened as much as possible (thereby hiding all the velcro parts).

This isn't exactly the style you are after but it does have adjustability: https://www.macys.com/shop/pro.....2&

And it looks like other Clark's might have the same feature. https://www.macys.com/shop/pro.....2&

Ecco has some styles like this, too. And Naturalizer might as well, and they come in narrow sizes, which might help.

It's likely to be a picky search, but there are options out there. Perhaps not quite as delicate as you are looking for, though...

ETA: The Naot Dorith comes in a narrow...https://www.zappos.com/p/naot-.....lor/596278

And the Beverly: https://www.zappos.com/p/naot-...../color/965

This is my challenge with VERY low volume feet, cjh!

Have you tried a narrow size? It REALLY helps. It's the only way I can wear a sandal.

I just repacked two pairs of sandals to return. I’m afraid the same thing will happen as last year in my search for everyday, reasonably priced (under $80 or so), strappy sandals. Ideally, I’d like low or flat heel, soft/comfort soles, straps enough to secure my foot including on the back, prefer not thong between toes.

The challenge: my feet are skimpy, but not narrow. Many of those I tried on were perfect in the size of the foot bed, but the straps were so voluminous I think they are made for puffer feet. When I walk even a couple of steps, my foot slides forward and off the front edge of the sole because there is so much room inside the straps. There is no way to tighten anything. These are an example of the style I’d like, but I’ve tried many brands. https://www.zappos.com/p/easy-...../color/422

I’ve thought maybe narrow would work, but try to find narrow!

I’d love to hear about any brands or successes anyone has had. Or even just sympathy if no sources! Thanks a lot!
