I tried Nine West at lunch today and lucked out! Found a very similar style, heel is a bit higher than the Okala but they are still fairly comfortable (and they are primarily for work where I'm not on my feet much anyway). I'll try to figure out how the "finds" feature works and post a link to the ones I got tonight.

I've not had luck with d'orsay shoes either - maybe we both have a wide instep?

I tried these Asos ones a few weeks ago - they were just a tad small for me so I returned them but overall they were cute.

They come in wide?! I had no idea! Will see if I can track some down here and if not, order some to try when we are in the US next month! Will try the SS ones too. Thanks!

Angie also suggested the Sole Society pumps. They come in silver (which is a gray with a sheen, I think she said), black, and a peachy nude color. The black is almost all sold out (they were on sale), but the other two colors are still pretty available, as far as I know.

The toebox is a bit narrow. You might want to order your regular size plus a half size up to compare. Angie said they worked fine on her feet (true to size) and that the toebox stretches out, but I haven't been able to get mine to stretch enough. Mine are a different color from hers, though, and sometimes the dye does different things to the leather.

Yes what Isis said. I'm not sure where people got them but they were available - good luck.

Did you try the Wide sizes? Nordstrom's has them in addition to the normal width; not sure about a Canadian source.

I had SUCH high hopes for the Sam Edelman Okala heels - pointy but not too pointy, the heel height is perfect, I love the look of them and they get consistently excellent reviews. But, I finally tried them today and they just don't work for my foot. I tried three sizes to be sure (I really wanted them to work!) but had to accept that they aren't for me. They hit right at the widest part of my foot (where people develop bunions) and cut in a bit there, making them look awkward and feel uncomfortable.

I'd like to find a similar alternative, if I can. *If* - because I suspect the real problem is that the d'orsay style just doesn't work for my foot; I've never been able to find a shoe in that style (heel or flat) that fits right. I have NO problems with pointy toe heels or flats without the side cut-outs.

But I am holding out hope that something is out there! Any suggestions? Bonus points if easily available in Canada...
