This is a frustrating issue for a lot of us. Being petite at retail means we get less -- fewer colors to choose from, a limited number of styles even at full retail prices, and hardly any sizes remaining on sale. It's enough to make us 'small but mean' in the shopping world!

PA, I can completely understand your frustration, as a fellow tiny-size petite! If I find something I really like, I will pay full price so I get it before it's gone. Sometimes I like to check the site periodically after I buy to see if the size I bought sells out--and oftentimes it does. So I'm glad I pounced! At every store I have been in where they sell small petite sizes (XSP and XXSP, or 00), the SAs tell me that they sell out fast and are the first things to go.

If you think about it, when stuff goes on clearance and you look at the sizes left, my experience is that it's usually the larger sizes that are left. If I wait for big sales, there are very, very few of the tiny petite sizes left, if any. At Loft, they told me that although they do carry XXSP in-store in addition to online, they have only ONE of an XXSP in any given style in-store. And once it's gone, it's gone.

This is why I can't understand why clothing retailers don't make more of these little sizes. If they're all selling like hotcakes, why not make more? I think the world needs a petite awareness campaign!

@Thistle, I'm not sure it's perception bias, although it might be. But when I go to discount stores (where the clothes are all lined up by size on several looooong racks), the XS section is usually about 4 garments, S maybe 10 garments, and then the rest of sizes take up miles of rack. Everything is medium and large. My theory is that the XS's never make it to the discount store because they are all purchased by desperate petite shoppers willing to pay high prices for the few rare, small items. LOL!

That's funny. In my neck of the woods, the racks are loaded with the smaller sizes. My sister and I were just lamenting yesterday how nice it would be to be a size 2 or 4 as the shelves were loaded with them!

It probably is not the case either way, to be honest. I think we are just more aware of not finding what we are looking for in our size when there are still so many other sizes available. But, we might snap up several other pieces and never notice that sizes other than ours aren't available. Perception bias I am sure.

Yep. That happens to me more times than I'd care to admit, and I wear a more medium size (small or medium in tops, always). I figure that's why they go on sale - they only have a few sizes left, they're not restocking and they need to clear out inventory.

It's why I always pay full price. I don't shop sales. I have no patience for finding a fabulous item that has sold out in my size.

I've noticed several items 'missing' when some stores have their sales, yet show up back online as soon as the sale is over. Hope yours comes back! If it doesn't, start checking ebay

So I was all set to buy a comfy gray ponte blazer from Old Navy. They were available in my size (XSP) online yesterday, and I saw them in my local store in a regular XS Just a few days ago. Today, now that they are on sale, I found that not only are there NONE of the blazers left in gray at the store in any size, but there are none in XS Or XSP left online! Noooooooo! I have come to loathe sales, as it seems like the smallest sizes are always the first to go. Or maybe I'm just unlucky. Looks like this simple item might end up on my HEWI list! (I tried to buy a similar blazer last year at H&M but they were sold out of my size, too. Sigh.)
